CR-1 financial requirements

Hi

Me and my fiancee have been looking at the CR-1 visa. We have a question about the financial requirements.

It states that she will 3 years of tax returns and has to be making at least 125% above the U.S federal poverty. The thing is, she doesn't have 3 years of tax returns as she was a full time student, will this be a problem?

Also, how long do you need to be working at least 125% above the federal poverty for?

Any other financial requirement information would be great.

She will have to write and explain why she doesn't have the tax returns, shouldn't be a problem.

She needs to be making the right amount of money by the time of the interview and have papers to back it up, pay stubs letter from employer etc.. There isn't a certain time for how long she must have made the right amount of money.

But if she gets a job just before the interview they might hesitate, it's not a bad idea to have a co-sponsor lined up in time for the interview in case you are worried.

But if guys are not married yet K-1 is the route for you, and then the income won't be an issue at that stage..

K1s have to prove income at the visa interview...Affidavit of Support form I-134.

She only NEEDS the most current year's tax information but has the option of submitting three year record. If she gets a job and her income from start date to present is over the poverty guideline then she is good but again the CO may be worried that the job is fairly new and ask you guys to provide a joint sponsor still.

and K1 applicants still need to show proof of support through the I-134.

You may just want to have a co sponsor lined up just in case.

You actually only need 1 year of tax (the last one). You do not need 3 years.
