We didn't have a wedding reception and G. doesn't dance. Also, we mutually hate each other's idea of what constitutes romantic music (we do agree on some songs, but none of them are romantic). So just agreeing on "our song" at all was monumental. (It's "Stand By Me." But I wouldn't dance to it. And as I said, G. doesn't dance, period, so it's moot anyway.)

We didn't have a wedding dance. We burned all of our most favourite songs on a couple CD's and played them softly for background music at the reception. Every once in a while we'd get a drift of one of "our" songs and smile secretly at each other. I kinda liked that. :wub:

lol - well what about people who use "Every Breath You Take" which is apparently about stalking - or that James Blunt tune where he never sees the girl again. I know certain songs just have a emotional feel - but if you're going to use it at your wedding it makes sense to listen carefully to the words :)

We're not doing a first dance as we're doing more of a picnic thing as my family don't really seem like big dancers to me, but when we thought we were doing that, our options were narrowed down to these few:

Stereophonics - First Time Ever I Saw Your Face (Roberta Flack cover... although it's been covered by others like Johnny Cash, Celine Deon, and countless others, so there is practically a version out there for everyone.)

Feeder - Tender, or I For You

Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

OK Go - This Will Be Our Year

Sigur Ros - Hoppípolla

We were leaning towards one of the Feeder tunes because it's our favorite band, but the 'Phonics one seemed like an obvious choice out of them all as far as traditional yet with an edge for us. Hoppípolla was certainly going to be used at some point as well. Now we can just pick a bunch of tunes we love and play them at the picnic as background music... I just kind of hope he gets in a romantic gesture mood and surprises me by dancing with me in the grass at random. :P

Hmm, for my first wedding (many years ago) we had a singer perform "You Light Up My Life" during the ceremony. The minister seriously questioned our choice of song, but in the end said it was our decision. Maybe I should try listening to it's lyrics and see what's wrong with the song for a wedding. :huh:

Randomly matched up by a computer as penpals at eleven years old in French Language class (1988)

Kerri Visits England for a month 25/05/04

We get engaged following a wonderful weekend trip to Brussels as a birthday treat for Kerri.

[10/01/05 Interview in London. Success - K1 Visa Aproved!

28/01/05 Kerri & I get married!!

20/04/05 Mail out AOS & EAD forms 1 day before due!!

07/07/05 EAD Received but returned for incorrect DOB!!

31/08/05 Hurricane Katrina Rolls into New Orleans, we pack up and evacuate to Cordova TNcolor]

25/11/05 Corrected EAD finally received after being mailed to New Orleans the day after Katrina

20/12/05 AOS Approved without interview after transfer to California.

28/04/06 I head back to England for 3 to 4 months whilst my wife completes a training shcool.

07/05/05 Things are looking up!! I get a well paid job. Ive started my driving lessons1

29/05/06 My Wife tells me she is not ready to be married and wants a divorce.

Ours was "Empty Road" by Matthew Good Band (a Canadian band). It's not really a typical wedding song and the lyrics are kinda sad but we just loved the sound/melody and chose this as our first dance song.

processions song - May It Be by Enya (theme from the first Lord of the Rings)

Song immediately following ceremony - Band of Gold by Seth Lakeman

cutting the cake song - Thats Entertainment by The Jam

We haven't talked about it - might not even have a major wedding party so who knows?? Maybe 'Japan Tokyo" the Nepali song we danced to on our first date...it's about a Nepali guy working in Japan carrying on an LDR with his gf back in Nepal so appropriate... :lol: maybe whatever big Kollywood hit is big at that time? :lol:
