Also, according to the USCIS website, our case hasn't been updated since March 14. I'm starting to worry because it seems like most people have already gotten their cards...

Update: I got fed up waiting so I went on the USCIS site again this morning - status was the same, 'initial review', but there was a # to call (1-800-375-5283) if you felt your case was taking longer than usual. Called the #, 5 mins later spoke to a representative who confirmed that indeed, mine was outside the normal processing times of 6 months from application. I filed end of March and Vermont's now processing end of April. Lord!

Now they're going to send an inquiry to the Vermont office, hopefully that'll speed things up, but in the interim I can expect a 30 day wait to get their response to the inquiry. Nice. I think I'd like to work for the USCIS, long turnaround time = less workplace stress, hahaha!

If you're concerned about your application do call - in the long run may not do anything but short term makes you feel better!

Does the 6 mos time-frame start from receipt of NOA1? I can't understand why we're still waiting while people who filed more than a month after us have been approved. Makes me feel like it went to the wrong address, or some neighborhood kids snatched our mail.

Apparently yeah, starts from receipt of NOA1. I can't understand it either - thought maybe it got lost in the mail too, we moved, but they have our new address and they say it's still in review so that's not it. Guess we just have to try and wait patiently, not stress ourselves over why they chose to drag their feet on ours. I swear though, if I get and RFE after all this time I'm going to freak out! I just want this done/to be able to stop thinking about it.

I called a number on the last correspondence i received…think its the extension of my conditional greencard on 9/27/13. Called to inquire on the status. They said that I would be contacted within 2 weeks.

I received an email on 10/1/13 saying I should receive a response on my ROC within 60 days.

I just received an email this morning stating:

On October 11, 2013, we transferred your CRI89, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED, to your local USCIS Office for further processing. The new office has jurisdiction over your case and will send you a decision as soon as processing is complete or you will be notified if further information or action is needed. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

Thanks for the info - we called Friday after work and I spoke with a Lvl. 1 who basically read me the info available on the website word for word. I said I wanted to confirm my address, and he said he'd have to pass me to a Lvl, 2 for personal info. It rang a few times, then we got another message - opted for the call-back feature instead of waiting on the line for the estimated 45 minute wait. I received a call back at around 6:45 ET and spoke with a helpful operator who confirmed our correct address, then like you, said we were outside the normal timeframe so he sent out a service request. I understand the request will take a month to hear back on, which hopefully we will all be approved by then... either way, it was a relief to know our app was still in process instead of an RFE or approval sent to the old address. Thanks again.

Its driving me nuts…protest6wz.gif

This is the email I got from USCIS:

The status of this service request is:

Due to our backlog, your case is presently still pending. You should receive a decision or notice of other action within 60-90 days of the date of this letter.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

This information is not particularly helpful to me, but then again I didn't expect it to be :).

I think our case is taking longer though because in September they sent us a letter saying that only my stepson (and not my wife) had to go to the ASC for biomoetrics again!! So we did that last week and it turns out that they didn't take his fingerprints the first time we went because he wasn't 14 yet, when actually he was 14. But, hey, oops, their mistake again, sorry. I like missing out on a day's pay and taking my kid out of school to go to their office anyway (sarcasm) Argh!

Ridiculous update: 2 days ago I got a letter from USCIS saying they couldn't get a hit on my fingerprints taken back in APRIL!! Way to go guys, nothing like waiting 6 months to tell me that. So I've got an appt to do the prints again November 14 but I'm just gonna do a walk in. Lord. This is what happened with my 2 year card - I ended up going 3 times, the last time to a special 'print' place. Blech.

I'd almost rather get that letter than the "nothing" we've been getting. Good luck - sounds like you're in the home stretch.

Yeah, true, nothing sucks - but you might hear from them earlier...they told me i'd get a response in a month and yet I got the rfe two weeks after my call. Hope they get back to you sooner than later!

An RFE would be interesting - we provided EVERYTHING the first go-round. We did adopt a dog and buy a car since then, so lots of pics of the puppy and us along with another shared asset. We're travelling abroad in December - hopefully this is all resolved by then. I don't know how it would work if we're still waiting and leave the country for 2 weeks. I know it's a slim chance, but what if we're summoned for an interview the day after we leave? Can't wait until all this is behind us.
