Hi Everyone:

I'm posting this information because I've seen many people that are bringing the parents but have younger brother or sister that can't stay by themselves in their country. Now, be aware that this information was given to me by a Immigration Officer; however, I have not done it because for now my brother has is finishing his associate in my home country and he has somebody to take care of him. I'm currently petitioning my mom and then she is going to petition for him.

The process will be to petition the parents (one or both), then one the petition is approved or once you have the permanent resident card they can apply via I-130 for the younger brother or sister; but, in the meanwhile they can also apply for something called Humanitarian Parole. The form is the I-131, Application for Travel Document. I think the filing fee is $360.

As I mentioned before, I have not done it because for now my brother is studying. Please find out with an attorney how the process will be.

I truly expect to help a lot of people with this information.

Best wishes to all of you and if you have any questions please feel free to ask them.

Humanitarian parole os for a visit, not for getting a greencard, and it only works in exceptional circumstances (such as a family member terminally ill), so while I appreciate you trying to help, this path isn;t going to work for 99.9% of people.

Yes, as you said it is not for a green card but it will be to bring the daughter or son while the petition (that the mother or father did) is process. As you also said the idea is to help. I was given this info by a immigration officer and in my case my brother is not terminally ill or anything (he is under 21), it was just that when I went to find out what to do, we didn't have anybody to stay with him.

Now, I'm not familiar with the term or the process of Humanitarian Parole; I'm just trying to pass on information that was given to me by an IO.

Also, as you said this path is not for probably 99.9% of people but they might be that 0.1% that doesn't know about this...I didn't.

Thanks for your response... and again... just trying to help but my best advice will be to ask or contact an attorney to get a better idea.

Your advice is extremely bad.

So 999 people should waste their money when only 1 may benefit.

Did you think about the impact in processing other applications? If USCIS is wasting time with 999 wasteful applications, what happens to real cases?

What you are advising is a waste of time and money. The result is that it will slow down real cases.

You haven't even tried this and you think it's a good idea

Extremely bad advice.
