It is my understanding you are to include it with the DS-230 as both the original and a photocopy. I haven't submitted mine yet, but it is on my cover letter to submit.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be able to double check that though.

You need to send you certified original divorce decree with the DS 230 package PLUS a photocopy of it too.

If you sent in both divorce decrees the one to your ex-wife and the one to your current wife per your situation of marrying before the last divorce was final when you sent in your I130 then no you do not have to send it in again. I submitted everything at the beginning and I was not asked for an original at NVC. If it makes you feel better turn in originals if you have a second set of originals otherwise copies will do now for her documents you need originals and translations (birth certificate, court and police reports).

God luck,

for the petitioner:

a photocopy of the divorce goes in with the I-130.

a certified copy or original goes in on interview day.

You did say petitioner, right?

Darnell, I am stupid this morning, sorry. I am the USC petitioner and my husband is the foreign beneficiary. He has never been married before, but I have been married twice before (it's not as bad as it sounds; we are middle-aged people haha). I submitted a copy of each final decree with our I-130 (at least we got that much right). I have two questions:

- Does my husband need to send in the originals (well, they are copies certified by the court) of my divorce decrees when he submits the DS-230? Or does he submit only copies, or nothing, at this stage, and then later bring the originals to the interview?

- Is it OK if he completes the paperwork for the DS-230 and then send it to me in the US to send in for him if I have originals of things he doesn't have?

Thanks... I'm going to go have some tea and try to wake up the rest of the way haha :)

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

the beneficiary does not submit the petitioner's divorce decree(s ) with the DS-230 .

the beneficiary (Visa Applicant) submits the certified copy/ies of the petitioner's divorce decree/s on interview day.

re - him sending you stuff - is all ok , doesn't matter who sends it in, regardless and irrespective of who's in the ds-3032.

Please read all pages from a PC, at

DS-230 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html
