Get SSN number before card arrives

Hey Guys,

I'm in the middle of applying for work and application after application is requiring i give my SSN for background checks. Can i get my number before my card comes? I applied on Friday.

My Immigration Progress

12/12/12 - Forms Sent (i-130, i-485, i-765, i-131, i-864)

12/13/12 - USCIS Received

12/18/12 - NOA's Received

12/24/12 - Biometrics Appointment Received.

01/03/13 - RFE Received (I-485)

01/08/13 - Biometrics Appointment, Atlanta, GA (27 days)

01/15/13 - EAD Approved (34 days)

01/15/13 - AP Approved (34 days)

01/15/13 - Interview ready for Scheduling

01/18/13 - EAD in Production

01/24/13 - EAD Card Received (Serves as Advance Parole) (43 Days)

01/25/13 - Applied for Social Security Number

01/31/13 - Social Security Number Received

02/25/13 - AOS Interview Scheduled for 03/27/13

03/27/13 - AOS Interview, Atlanta, GA - Approved on the spot! (105 days)

03/27/13 - Green Card ordered for production

04/04/13 - Green Card Received (113 Days)

As far as I know you can't. But I guess you are applying for AoS and is not a requirement to have a SSN. I mean, if you have it, then great but if you don't there's no problem. In my case I applied for my SSN 2 weeks later after getting my EAD. I only hace 2 issues: getting a bank account and my driver license. In florida you need the EAD and the SSN to get them.

I got it! well you need to wait a lil bit...SSN takes at least 4 weeks. be patient I know is very frustrating

Go to the office and ask for it. Lots of people reported they got it printed out. I didn't (was told need to wait for card to arrive) but there is not hurt in trying unless you have a problem spending an hour or two in depressive place that social security office without a doubt is ;-)

absolutely !

Go into the same SSA office where you applied,

the day after you applied (or any day after)

and ask the clerk for the number.

They'll give you a printout.
