I'm getting ready to send in my I-129F. I'm definitely front-loading since my fiance is Ecuadorian and we'll be going through the Guayaquil consulate. Thanks to all who have forged the path before me, and left great advice and warnings!

Here's what I have:

- G-1145

- Payment of $340

- I-129F

- I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 18, explanation of meeting in person

- My G-325A + signed, dated supplements

- My passport style photo

- His G-325A + signed, dated supplement

- His passport style photo

- Copy of my birth certificate, front and back (back is blank, so I noted that on the blank page I copied)

- My letter of intent to marry

- His letter of intent to marry

- Proof of having met in person in the past two years:

- Boarding passes from most recent trip (November 2012)

- Passport pages from most recent trip (this will overlap with some of the passport pages in the "proof of ongoing relationship" section, but I wanted to make things as easy as possible for them to reference)

- Boarding passes from two flights we took together within Ecuador

- Hotel receipts and translations

- Bank statement showing ATM withdrawal in Ecuador

- Proof of ongoing relationship:

- Header page summarizing all trips to Ecuador and noting which passport page the entry/exit stamps can be found on

- Boarding passes from all trips to Ecuador

- All passport pages showing entry/exit stamps

- His passport pages showing entry/exit stamps from a trip we took together to Peru

- Photos (haven't decided on how many yet...I have about 40, but was thinking of sending 15-20?)

- 3 letters we sent each other and translations

- Envelopes from letters we sent each other, showing postmarks

- Engagement ring receipt and translation

- Wedding band receipt and translation

- Affidavit from my father, who has traveled to Ecuador and met my fiance (showing approval and support, not a financial affidavit)

- Email correspondence between fiance and my father (stating his intentions to propose :) )

- Fiance listed as beneficiary on my Roth IRA

- Skype logs

- Google+ hangout logs

- Gmail chat/email logs (this shows daily communication, but it is 40 pages long (!)...should I cut parts out? scrap it altogether? keep it in?)

Alright! Any thoughts, feedback, suggestions? I'm nervous, but also getting excited...can't wait to officially get this process started!

This looks like more than enough. Plenty. The only thing I would suggest (which you may already have) is a cover letter listing everything.

Good Luck!

Oops, yes, it should say "cover letter" in there. Thanks for catching that!

Maybe I am worrying too much, but how exactly are you organizing all of this within the packet you send to the USCIS office? A folder? Loose papers in the correct order? Everything stapled together? I'm having nightmares that they'll throw out my application if they see I made a mistake in the formatting!

If you send a receipt for a wedding band, your I-129F petition might not even make it out of USCIS. The I-129F is for fiance/es only. Avoid giving the impression that you're married!

Idea: I would include a detailed relationship timeline, addressed, in big bold letters, TO THE GUAYAQUIL CONSULATE. Do a detailed, objective story of all of your trips and activities, with dates or date ranges, concentrating on the time that you spent together. Rather than sending a bunch of photos randomly, why not intersperse within your timeline? They'll be more meaningful that way. If you have some left over, include them at the end, taped 2 or 4 to a page with a header of "Additional Photos as Evidence of Bona Fide Relationship." Put one-line captions beneath each.

You might search the Vietnam regional subforum for tips on how to construct a meaningful relationship timeline -- those filers have to do it all the time. If you don't see anything obvious, post a message there with the title "Ecuador filer wants to construct Relationship Timeline - help please." People will respond.

In regard to assembling the package, don't staple anything. Leave pages loose or held together with a very few binder clips. USCIS will organize things in its preferred way.

In your cover letter to USCIS, you can list your enclosures. Put a big bold statement in there that the extra materials MUST go to the Guayaquil consulate upon approval of the petition.

You're a very smart lady to know that you need to front-load any petition that will end up in Guayaquil -- and very lucky that you have the chance to do it.

EDITED TO ADD: Sometime soon, go into your VJ Timeline and change the consulate from Quito to Guayaquil. Captain Ewok was kind enough to correctly add Guayaquil as a choice awhile back. I'm working with him to eliminate Quito altogether and to merge the ratings of the two places under just Guayaquil.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hello! They won't throw you application away! no0pb.gif

Don't staple things cause they will put your file in their own folders and format as soon as they receive the petitition.

We used clips and I still think it is a good idea because I hate used paper. We put everything in the right order (forms + most pertinent evidences first (like flight tikets, passport stamps, proofs I was and exchange student in the university we met in, etc ) and then only less pertinent things (like skype reccords). The way you organize it seems perfect to me! We labbeled everything with post it, to help the adjudicator go through our file. Some people say even those will be removed... not sure it is true.

You seem very organized, I don't see why anything would go wrong.

I would agree with TBone, wouldn't put the wedding band reciept, it might be confusing.

If you want to learn a bit about how the USCIS is working, here is a GREAT insight: http://www.visajourney.com/content/adjudicator-q-and-a

good luck!!

Good luck in your visa journey!

Put some photos in the proof of meeting in person section.

Thanks for all the help and encouragement!

I've taken out the wedding band receipt, and per TBone's recommendation, added a timeline including photos into my Ongoing Relationship Evidence(great suggestion - it helps me stay organized as well!)

The photos I have of meeting in person in the last two years are included in my timeline. Should I make a duplicate of the relevant photos to put in the Having Met in Person section, or just make a note to reference the timeline/photo section of my petition packet?

No need to duplicate; your entire package will be forwarded to the Embassy and they will put two and two together. You'll be sending a larger evidence of relationship package for that also when that time comes. For now only need to focus on your meeting in person.
