I was reading posts but they are a couple years old now, and cant find anything specific on government websites...wondering what the total cost for filing the DS-230

Total fees for the CR-1 I am looking at:

I-130 - $450

DS-230 - ??

Affidavit of Support- $88 ... x2 if you are needing a sponsor?

and now which I have read an Immigrant fee of $165 once you obtain the visa and enter the US? - as of Feb 2013

and then of course flights/exams/documentation copies etc etc

Am i missing anything else?

Thanks!

I noticed you are from Canada as well, have you visited America since being married? What about since you started filing for the visa? I have no idea how people are supposed to wait until the visa is approved to be able to visit again!?

You don't have to wait. I have visited twice since we were married and once after we filed. I am going to visit again at the end of this month. I bring evidence of my ties to Canada and a copy of the NOA1 for them to see if I'm asked. Lots of people visit and for Canadians its fairly easy because we don't require a visa or waiver to visit the USA. You just have to be truthful if asked questions, have ties to Canada (or your home country) and its better if you make short trips vs a big long one.

The $165 is for those who receive their visa packet on or after 2/1

Who Needs to Pay the Fee

Any individual who on or after February 1, 2013 receives an immigrant visa package from a United States consulate or embassy abroad (including Canada and Mexico) will pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee.

Visiting is fine.

My husband came over to the states with me for a 2 week christmas vacation.

Always carry your NOA1 and other ties such as a letter from your employer, current check stubs, utility bills, lease, etc.

If your NOA1 went to your sponsor in the states, just have them scan you a copy.

Correction

I-130 is $420 per I-130

iv fee is $230 per DS-230

AOS is $88 In this case, AOS means Affidavit of Support processing fee. On per family for concurrent filings.

Green card fee is $165 for everyone who enters after Feb 2013.

It's actually called a "new immigrant fee" but yes, it's for producing and mailing the green card. There was a lag between the IV fee reduction and the reduction being replaced by the new immigrant fee.

The uscis website specifically states that the 165 fee is for those that receive their packet on 2/1 or after.

Has it been clarified since that it's in regards to those that CROSS 2/1 and after?

Oh btw just as a note because the beneficiary is Canadian, they (you?) will be doing online forms, the DS-260 instead of the DS-230 and the DS-261 instead of the DS-3032. If there are children who are also immigrating and had an I-130 filed, they will each need a separate IV fee and their own DS-260. That is why I stated per I-130 filed which I meant to be per DS-260/DS-230.... Figured someone would correct it since I was past the editing point. ;) Which is always a safe assumption on this site. LOL

Can I get further clarification? I am trying to budget for this fee. How much will I need to submit with the DS-230? I am confused by the green card fee. I am applying for a 5 year old and an 11 year old. Will I pay for a green card or will I just pay the $230 per child? Thanks for your help.
