Hello all!

My fiancé and I have just started on the whole process of applying for the K-1 this week (he proposed last Tuesday, and might as well get it into gear!), and I was hoping to clarify a few details with some of you more experienced members! :)

I believe I have almost everything put together to send off, but I was wondering at what point do you file the Affidavit of Support? Is it with the original filing, or after we receive the NAO2? I don't want to send it off and then have it rejected!

As far as documentation proving that we are both legally eligible to be married, is our original letters of intent and our evidence of meeting within the last 2 years sufficient?

For the supporting evidence, can I include more than one item per page? For example, can I place copies of our boarding passes from visiting each other on to one page, or should each piece be it's own page?

Lastly, in all the information I have seen, it says that I should send the final complete petition with all supporting documents to the lockbox facility in Dallas/Lewisville, TX... however I've seen that there's facilities in CA, and (maybe?) Arizona, which would be closer and maybe more likely to have jurisdiction over the place where I live... does this matter at all? Can anyone shed light on the situation?

If you all have any other tips that you think really set a petition apart, I would be really appreciative if you'd share them with me!

That's a lot of questions, thank you in advance for any information!

Thanks,

K & J

No you can't send it to california or even Arizona, you must follow the steps correctly. they said send it to Dallas locker box. check their website http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=1872aca797e63110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=fe529c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD and aso visa journey guide http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide they all Say Dallas, so don't make any mistake.

Hello K&J :)

So...in terms of letter of intent to marry and the proof that you met in the past 2 years is fine, In terms of boarding passes, we put them all separate, same goes for passport stamps but I do not see it should matter if you save some space and use multiple items on one page.

And as far as the service center goes - we all have to send them to Dallas and then they are forwarded to their respective centers based on where you live so Dallas it is for you.

For any other questions see the guides and you should be just fine :)

Good luck on this looong trip of waiting !!

GC received on the 28th of February, 2014 - no interview, no additional RFE's

Affidavit of support is taken to the K-1 visa interview. That won't happen for months after filing the I-129F petition. Follow the guides here on VJ for what is required to send with the initial petition.

As far as documentation proving that we are both legally eligible to be married, is our original letters of intent and our evidence of meeting within the last 2 years sufficient?

Yes, unless either of you have you been previously married. In that case a copy of the certified divorce decree is also needed.

For the supporting evidence, can I include more than one item per page? For example, can I place copies of our boarding passes from visiting each other on to one page, or should each piece be it's own page?

You can place as many as will fit and still be legible onto one page.

All I-129F petitions are mailed to the Dallas lockbox intake/sorting facility. From there the petitions are sent to either California or Vermont, the only two service centers that process I-129F petitions.

If you all have any other tips that you think really set a petition apart, I would be really appreciative if you'd share them with me!

Follow the guides and example forms here on VJ. When you get your NOA1 receipt notice, change your profile to list the service center your petition was sent to, CSC or VSC. That will give you a more accurate approximate date span that your petition would be approved by. The Texas Service Center is not the Dallas lockbox and does not process I-129F petitions.

That's a lot of questions, thank you in advance for any information!

Thanks,

K & J

You don't need to send proof of relationship, just proof that you met within the last two years. At your interview many months from now, they will ask questions about your relationship. Because you are in the UK, they dont require as much evidence to prove an ongoing relationship as they do for some of the high fraud countries. Good luck, and welcome to VJ :)

Yes, read the guide. Everything is in there

And please, please, please, don't forget to send the G325A for you AND for your fiancé. This happened to several people on this forum...and this is no good!

Unfortunatly, there is nothing to do to set your petition appart. It will take just as long as for everyone else. If you want to know why or how it really works, there is a great testimony of a former USCIS employee here (when my case was in the uscis, it saved me all the "what is wrong with our case" worries).

Of course, it is still nice to send a neat file, you never want to upset an adjudicator right?

Best of luck in your visa journey!

Good luck in your visa journey!

From the day we sent I-129F to the day I recieved my K-1: Exactly 9 months
I am the benifeciary
