I am hoping that someone can help me out with these questions:

We filed our I-129F in November. I am the Canadian fiancee and have been in the USA for a few months with him. When I crossed the border in October I told them I would be back in Canada by January 21st 2013. I am hoping to extend my stay from 3 months to 4 months.

Is this possible? Do I have to contact someone at USCIS (or someplace else?) to get this approved?

If not, will it cause problems with me entering at a later date?

If anyone has experience with this- please let me know.

Were you given anything that stated you needed to be back by January? Was there anything stapled in your passport or written in there?

If not, you may stay. Canadians are admitted usually for 180 days as long as you do not go beyond that you should be fine

Unless they limited your stay by writing something in your passport, you should be fine to stay up to 6 months, as Canadians are allowed to.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

There was nothing written or stamped in my passport when I crossed. The border guard did ask me if I had been on a "control of days" before. I told him I had no idea what that was. He passed my passport back to me and wished me a safe trip.

Do you think this mean that I can just stay longer?

I would still like to call them and find out for sure... anyone know how I would go about doing that? Where would I call and what number?

Its simple as that...Since they did not put a date down...you can stay for up to 6 months--Just google whatever POE your looking for

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Wen came across one time i thought I would only be here for a couple of weeks but then I found a way to take care of some legal business via email/fax and so I stayed for 4 months. Not a problem because I never overstayed.
