A man equipped with a 47 gun arsenal was arrested on Sunday after threatening to kill children at a local elementary school. The Cedar Lake, Indiana man had also threatened his wife:

Cedar Lake police were called to the home of 60-year-old Von I. Meyer early Friday after
he allegedly threatened to set his wife on fire
. A police statement says
Meyer also said he would enter Jane Ball Elementary School and “kill as many people as he could.” Authorities found 47 guns and ammunition worth over $100,000.

This incident comes right on the heels of the arrest of an Oklahoma man planning a school shooting and the horrific murders in Newtown, Connecticut. Though America has suffered aspate of mass shootings and common sense gun regulations effectively reduce murder rates, several Republicans and gun advocates have responded to Friday’s tragedy by calling for relaxing restrictions on guns in schools.

47 guns. Sounds totally necessary.

What if he's defending his wife and 13 year old daughter from 5 gangbangers who break in the house and rape them and the first 46 guns jam?

That 47th gun would be money well spent.

There should be an armed security officer in these elementary schools. There should only be one entrance and one exit. Every person should be screened before entering. I am sure the states can offord one armed security guard in each school.

Everyone at their school was screened before entering. All doors were locked. The shooter literally shot his way in.

Just what we need. More guns around our children.

May have been. I know this case was different from what i said, but there are alot of schools that have very crappy security. Like i said in a previous post. I could walk into my sons elementary school and hang out for who knows how long before someone would notice me there. The states need to step up the mandates on these schools systems and force them to provide better security. Which could include bars on the windows if they have to. There has got to be a better way to secure these school properties.

Did the shooter shoot and kill the armed security guard?

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Our local school has a county sheriff on active duty. That is the only way to go.

Did I say there was one? I simply said there were some security measures in place.

But if there was an armed guard the kids would be saved. Hurrah!

Or maybe the armed guard would have made it 27.

"Would the children have had a better chance of survival with or without an armed security guard present at the school?"

Now take your time and think it over first before you reply to that one. And before you answer, ask yourself why there are armed security guards at banks, court houses, and airports not to mention US Air Marshals on passenger airplanes.

You answer this one first. If the bad men didn't have guns would they be able to shoot anyone?

The bad guys are always going to have guns. Even in English subjugated Scotland the bad guys have guns.

Take less than a few hours to make a zip gun.
