Even thou I was born early 60's I think that this era made a great impact on us all.

sit back and enjoy.... Take me Back to the Sixties

:unsure: why does everyone always think that some other "time" is better than the one we're currentlly living in? The 1960's sucked. I was there. I lived through it. I don't want to go back. And who suggested 1860 or 1760? Why would you want to go back to then? Geez.. Sorry folks, but I kind of like where I'm at right now. Lots of good medicene when I'm sick. Good doctors, good hospitals and new things happening every day that open your mind and create new horizons. While I do agree that each decade has it's good points... I'm in favor of where I'm at now. But if given a choice of having gray hair, no hair or getting rid of some of these wrinkles.. hmm... anyone want to loan me $20,000 for a make-over?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Good point--the "good old days" many refer to are almost always mythical.

the 60s sucked

For me, the 1960's involved:

  • rationing of staple foods such as rice
  • no car, so any trips to visit relatives could be multi-hours trip in bus and commuter-train (and that was just for relatives living in Mumbai--much worse when we had to go out of town)
  • considerable quantities of "Waterbury's Compound" (as I suffered from asthma, aggravated by Mumbai's pollution and humidity)
  • hyperinflation resulting from two very close wars (1962 before I was born, and 1965)
  • dealing frequently with my paternal grandparents (who didn't love their firstborn, my dad, but saw no compunction in demanding from him as "duty")

So, that's not a decade for which I have any nostalgia.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

That may, to some extent, depend on the techicality of whether the 60's began on 1960/1/1 or 1961/1/1 (assuming that you actually meant "she was born in 1960"; if born in '61 or '62, ignore the following).

I can remember where I worked from 2000/11 to 2001/09, one of the staff threw an "ice-cream party" every friday; on 2000/12/29, he billed it as "the last ice-cream pary of the millenium". When I asked him, he stated the TECHNICAL millenium only ended 2000/12/31--and so the bug would strike in 2001, being "technical bug, not popular bug".

Basically, it seems that the 60's may have been nice for many Yanks/Canucks.

For middle-class or poor (in Mumbai with the constraint imposed by my constantly-demanding paternal grandfather, we were nominally of the former but pushed in reality way toward the latter) in other countries, it just was.

Would rather go back to pre-60s. 60s were the start of our decline into a lawless, superficial society. Give me the 1860s. 1760s would be even better.

It's all right for men, they didn't have to wear gut wrenching corsets...1760's my #######!

Um, sweetie, you don't wear a corset on your #######... :P

The early 60's were great! The later 60's was the begining of the end of our national identity. Thats when liberalism started and it's been downhill ever since.

I definitely agree with that.

Crime has gone up, teen pregnancies have increased, divorce is rampant...... yeah, thanks a lot, damn dirty hippies.

The really funny thing is, all of these ex-flower children who wanted nothing to do with the government are now going to be the ones draining Social Security for the rest of us. I love hypocrites.

sonny%20bono.jpg

Down with old hippies!

Sure, pick on the dead one...

Electricity is really just organized lightning.
