Hi all!

I've been looking through the wonderful resources here for several months, but I think it's finally time to start using this site to the fullest, which means launching my crazy questions at you kind, knowledgeable folks...

My name is Abbey - I'm originally from Vermont, but spent most of my adult life in and around Washington, DC. I met my husband, Zouheir (a Moroccan), through mutual friends back in 2010. He's a telecommunications engineer who has lived and worked in almost two dozen countries in the last decade, and I work for a sprawling international development project. After dating long distance for over a year while he was in Belgium and I was in the US, we got engaged and moved to Morocco. We were married in Marrakech this June and, after putting the finishing touches on our little house here, are ready to start the paperwork slog that is the US immigration process. Hooray!
