How do you get these e-mail and text notifications?

Hi everybody,

Our lawyer just sent the AOS package last week Nov 9 and I was wondering how am I supposed to receive any e-mail or text notifications? I don't remember him to put our phone numbers and e-mails in the forms. He has it because we were talking on the phone and sending e-mails with the information before he sent our papers but maybe I have to register somewhere in order to get notifications...

AOS from J1

15 Nov '12 - AOS Mailed in!
19 Nov '12 - Pack Received
21 Nov '12 - Case Numbers Assigned (NOA1)
28 Nov '12 - NOA1 received in post
05 Dec '12 - Biometrics appointment received (scheduled for Dec 24)
07 Dec '12 - Biometrics appointment #2 received (rescheduled for Dec 26)
26 Dec '12 - Biometrics appointment NOLA
02 Jan '13 - I-485 case status changed to "Testing and interview" - no interview date assigned
17 Jan '13 - EAD/AP card in production
23 Jan '13 - EAD card in production ( second update )
28 Jan '13 - EAD card received
04 Feb '13 - Interview scheduled for March 7
07 Mar '13 - APPROVED
16 Mar '13 - Green card in the mail ( 4 months )

ROC

26 Dec '14 - ROC Mailed in!
29 Dec '14 - Pack Received
30 Dec '14 - NOA1 - 1 year extension
19 Feb '15 - Biometrics appointment received (scheduled for March 5th) - I had to call twice to ask what is going on with it. My local office was too busy!
20 Feb '15 - Biometrics appointment #2 received (scheduled for March 9th) - Different case number plus the one from the first letter... Very confusing!
05 Mar '15 - Biometrics appointment in NOLA. They asked me for the second letter with both case numbers. Very complicated explanation!

I just filled the registration form but I need the receipt number for any actual updates. How long do you think will take for the receipt to come back in the mail?

We are using lawyer too.

If you guys got the tracking number of the package from which ever carrier you used. You can track it and see if the uscis office recieved it. And then Go from there

AOS

Day 00: Nov/20/12: AOS Package sent(all Forms)

Nov/23/12: at 9:27 A.M.Package signed and recieved

Nov/29/12: Check cashed

Dec/03/12: Recieved Receipts and Biometrics appointment

Dec/20/12: Biometrics appointment

Jan/2/13. : received email an text. Ready for Testing and interview

Jan/23/13: text and email that EAD and AP approved!!!! Yes!!!!!!!

Day 70: Jan/29/13: Card/Document Production

Day 73: Feb/01/13: Recieved EAD card.

Day 101: recieved text/email that AOS interview is April 2nd.

Day--- : AOS approved for green card. Got stamp in passport.

If you used a lawyer then the notices are going to him/her.

OP: When you send in your package you can also send in a G-1145 which will cause them to send you emails and texts. If you didn't do that, no problem, just register on uscis.gov as mentioned above. You will get your notice of acceptance for initial review within 30 days. There is really nothing much to see or get texted about though, just to warn you. It seems exciting but it mostly says nothing.

8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
