I know this is off topic but I don't know where to find this info and people on here are so smart I figured I'd just try and ask...

In America, when ur bringing someone over..on k1 or spouse visa..u have to be able to support him cuz he can't get welfare m or such from the government until a citizen..without having to pay it back..right?

Someone told me their cousin (from turkey) got married to a German citizen and as soon as he moved there the government just started giving him money cuz he can't work. I find this very very doubtful. I just don't think they would let anyone bring a foreigner then just give him benefits for not working...but that may just be cuz I have an American mind.

Would anyone know? Or tell me where I could find out? Thanks so much!

Hi,

German fiancé visa is not that different from the USA one. You will need to provide the same documents to prove bona fide relationship. Most of their forms are found on the German embassy:country where the visa will be issued .every country has it required docs...to some extend you have to take German language test at any Goethe Institute and acquire basic A1 certificate.

German has welfare for every body living there legally or their own citizen.Germany is a beautiful place to live.Go to the German embassy in Turkey website and find their info

May God Bless Us All In This New World. We All Have Come From Afar And We Need The Lord's Guidance For Success.

NB:I am not an Immigration Attorney, All i say here is based on my personal experiences through K-1 visa process and CR1/IR1 visa process.

Hello I live in Germany, Germany gives you unemployment money after 3 months staying here and if you don't have a job. It is called hartz 4 and it is 340euros and you don't have to pay it back but you need to take every job they find for you. Even if is the worst. If you deny the job or quit, they cut the unemployment money. It is nice to live here but even nicer in the us ! ;)

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process to Europe & Eurasia regional forum -- topic involves country-specific policies. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Um no. Germany does not have anything like a fiance visa at all. Germany is probably one of the loosest first world countries there are when it comes to marriage based immigration. Basically if the citizen petitioner has some kind of job and the beneficiary has basic German skills, you are set, assuming you enter the country legally. They also accept co-sponsors. If unmarried, they ask for proof from your country's government verifying your ability to marry. We were never asked at any point to prove our relationship. YMMV if they suspect something. Entering on a tourist visa is fine, they don't care, you adjust status in the country. It is fast, cheap. I have nothing bad to say about it at all. It is absolutely nothing like immigrating to the US or Canada or UK or some other EU countries, which is why I so highly recommend it to those who have the option available.

One of the funnier things that happened to me was after my daughter was born, I got a rentenversicherungs number in the mail. I asked my husband why (now) and he said as soon as you pop out a kid, the government sets up a pension account for you. K. Yes, you have full access as a PR to most all social programs and there is nothing like an I-864 either.

There's also other forms of financial aid available to couples here. Wohngeld ("living money") is anywhere between 200-300 Euros or more a month, depending on your income and situation. They also help out interns with Ausbildungsbeihilfe ("internship assistance"), but if you're married you're unlikely to receive it.

There are many options here besides actual welfare. You just have to sit down with someone at the local town hall and discuss your financial status so she/he can determine which aid programs you could qualify for. They'll have you fill out paperwork and send it back to their office and they'll keep sending out your applications until one program accepts you. It typically gets cut at the end of a fiscal year so that you have to reapply. You'll still get reaccepted, but they cut a little bit of aide off each year til you no longer need their help.

Like Wacken said, it's ridiculously easy to immigrate here as long as you have a German spouse and you can speak German well. Even if you can't speak German, they'll still accept you, but you MUST go to an 8-month integrations course or else your residence permit will go through a shredder. If you CAN speak German then don't be afraid to show it at the aliens office - otherwise they assume you can't and they'll still sign you up for the course.
