Interview Tomorrow - Do I need an Aus Post envelope, and passport photos?

Hi All,

I have my interview tomorrow. Reading other reviews, people have mentioned they needed an Aus Post envelope yet it's not mentioned anywhere in my interview letter, nor is it mentioned on the consulate website.

Also, in my interview letter, it states:

The applicant must bring the correct size and number of photographs to the visa interview. They must measure 2 inches by 2 inches (5 cm by 5 cm) on a white background.

Yet again, no where do they clarify exactly what they are after. I have a feeling the photos overlap with what was already provided to the NVC thus the consulate will already have them.

Anyway, just hoping someone can shed some light on this!

Cheers,

Adam

You need to bring 2 passport photos to the interview, this is not overlapping, they need them at the embassy to issue the visa. The visa will have the beneficiary's picture on it. Bring whatever they ask for, it;s better to be prepared then to not be prepared and get a 221g asking for the things you didn't bring and delay the issuing of the visa.

Thanks for the reply. Where does it state this?

I ask because, I hate to start a thread without doing my homework and it makes me wonder how many people turn up, only bringing items which they were directed to bring.

Please be aware that the visa part of a process is often country specific.

Indeed. I cannot find any information about this on the Sydney Consulate website (the Visa information is on the Canberra website).

Nothing in my P4..

I linked your topic in the Aussie chat thread hoping someone who filed CR-1 will be able to help. I have never heard of people bringing photos to the interview because we did so at the beginning of the process, and also with the medical... however i went the K1 route. Hopefully another Aussie can assist you shortly :)

Worst case scenario there is a photo booth in the building where the interview takes places so if you need them you can go down and get them and then take them back up.

The envelope though, there was a new process for the Aussie people that I read about. Where you need to register on a website or something. Is there nothing about that anywhere? I'm trying to find that link.

Nothing in my P4..

Very strange - and no there's not (officially).

Regarding the online profile, reading that website (again, not referenced in P4 or on the consulate website), it states:

http://ustraveldocs....tcollection.asp

The cost for Australia Post to deliver or hold your passport is included in the visa application fee.

So, perhaps the P4 is accurate at this point in time and I do not need to bring an Aus Post envelope, or more passport photos.

Though, it doesn't say I should create an online profile!

I wish you luck!

Thanks! You too!

At this stage, based on what I have read I might take my chances without the passport photos and envelope (unless any new information comes to light before tomorrow!).

If it turns out I need them, I can grab all of them within an hour anyway. I work in the CBD so I will be in there for the day anyway.

I did K-1 buttttt...I took new photos with me for the interview but when I got there they asked if I wanted to use the new ones or the ones that I submitted with my medical. I think the issue is that they need to be within 6 months old or as recent as possible. I had my medical only a month before my interview so maybe they were recent enough.

....oh and good luck with your interview!!!

Finally time for AOS.......

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

12/22/11 Received letter for Biometrics

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

02/13/12 Received EAD card :D :D :D :D

03/06/12 Interview in Phoenix :).....Approved :D

03/14/12 Received Green card in mail.....

....no more USCIS until December 2013
