Petitioning Mom with BC discrepancy

Hello Everyone! I need your help. I am going to petition my Mom and planning to send the application this coming Monday. If there is no problem :( Crossing my fingers.

Upon checking my Mom's BC, we both find out that her BC has minor spelling issues. Her maiden name shows "Villones" instead of "Billones". It's an obvious typo error.

My BC and her Marriage contract shows that her Mother's last name is Billones.

What should I do? What should I put in the "Other Names Used"? Ex.

Full Name is = Mary Bon Hernan

Other Named Used (Maiden Name) is = "Mary Billones Bon" or can I put Mary Bon w/o the middle name?

Please advise. hmmm. guess i worry too much lol

Appreciate your help in advance.

Hi. Your mom needs to have the typo error change. She needs to check with the local registrar where she is from, apply for changes. The local registrar would then advise her of the supporting documents she needs to submit. The way I understand it, she needs to fill up papers during the process of your petition for her with her names(maiden names, married names) thus she needs to have her BC corrected. I had the same experience and it took me 3 months to have everything corrected and get a copy from NSO with the coorected/changed spellings of mine and my dad's last name.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!

your mom needs to fix the name on her BC ..it will delay her visa if she didn't fix it..it's better to avoid the problem in the future :)

Good Luck

IMO, you should do the process of correcting her BC first before filing the i-130.

its been atleast 2 months since we process for my mom's BC name correction. civil registry and NSO takes forever. mom is suggesting maybe they want to be bribed (bring food, give money) to get the work done, but they are paid to do it. they kept on promising it will be done next week but when that time came, oh its not ready yet be back in 1 more week. when i was there years ago, went in line to get BC and there was a loooong line (it was so hot and humid), one guy reading an entertainment magazine and other one using her phone right in front of the windows. it is not as if its free to get those documents..
