Nothing really ... Since sometimes there are so many delays in the consulate receiving your file and then issuing you an interview date that you can be well after the expiration date of the I-129F before you receive your K-1 Visa ...

The only expiration dates you want to worry about is the one that will be on your K-1 Visa (6 months) and the on the I-94 (90 days) at your POE ...

K-1 VISA
08-05-06 - Married in Sycamore IL

AOS / EAD
08-24-06 - AOS/EAD mail to Chicago (Day 1)

11-06-06 - GC & Welcome Letter arrive in Mail (Day 75)

I-751
09-23-08 - Sent Package via USPS (Day 1)
01-02-09 - Received GC in mail (with wrong Resident Since date) (Day 101)

It means that you need to have the visa issued prior to that date. If in the event that the consulate is slow and cannot issue such visa in that time frame an extention of time of 4mos can be approved. It is not an automatic item and if you find yourself approaching that date then you should request such an extension. A sample request form is located in the sample forms section

YMMV

Answer #1 comes into play in most cases as the 4 mos. period never becomes an issue. However, in the event it does.... then be aware of the process

YMMV

The USCIS approval is valid for 4 months, but the consulate can renew that validity for an additional 4 months.

24 March 2009 I-751 received by USCIS

27 March 2009 Check Cashed

30 March 2009 NOA received

8 April 2009 Biometric notice arrived by mail

24 April 2009 Biometrics scheduled

...once again waiting

Perhaps after you calm down you can send an email to the consulate asking them to simply extend the approval date. It happens to many people due to NVC or consulate backlogs - it's not really a big deal.
