We have finally got an AOS interview scheduled for Dec 14th, I can hardly believe it's finally happening. I do have a few questions though, if anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

Before I sent off the AOS package, I did the medical and biometrics and my husband did all the sponsor stuff. Do I need to repeat the medical and biometrics since it has been over a year? I'm pretty much assuming we will need a new affadavit of support since a new tax year has passed since we applied. Anyone know about the others?

AOS

05/26/05: Sent I-485/I-130 & I-765 to Chicago lockbox.

05/27/05: Paperwork received by Douglas!

06/17/05: Check hit bank account.

06/20/05: All 3 NOA's rec'vd! TG!

08/02/05: Biometrics , New Orleans. Pretty uneventful.

08/09/05: EAD Approved!

07/12/06: ......still.........waiting.........

09/26/06: Case Status says interview has been canceled............What interview????

10/23/06: Interview finally scheduled for 12/14/06.

12/14/06: AOS approval pending renewal of Biometrics....Waiting on appt. for ASC!

Will this ever end????

01/17/07: Biometrics scheduled.

02/03/07: Everything complete at our end! Apparently my case file is under somebodys wobbly table leg.

02/27/07: Approval notice finally received by e-mail.....only 641 days!! 1 yr 9 mths!

Congratulations on your interview date. I know the medical is only good for one year at the embassy level so I would assume the same would apply at this stage. Hope someone else can clarify it for you soon. Good luck.

You dont need a new medical.... You have to have had the medical within one year of filling for AOS it does not matter when your interview is....

You will need to update your affadavit of support and get a new letter from employer and recent pay stubs....

Good Luck

Kezzie

Thanks for your help & good wishes. Makes sense now!......It's been a long road.

Oh well, at least if this all goes well, we won't have to lift conditions since we'll have been married 2 years next month. I guess these things have a way of working themselves out!

Did they read us b1tching about this on here the other day???!!!

Very cool! And just in time for Christmas also!

I'd redo the I-864 and PM one of the VJ brains about the medical. I concur with the others insofar as I don't THINK you need another but I ain't sure!

No, you don't need another medical if your AOS application was submitted within a year of its being done - it is the medical's validity at the time of submission they are looking for. My medical was done March 2004, we filed for AOS July 2004 and I received my AOS May 2006 - no new medical was required even though the existing one was over 2 years old when the AOS was approved.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

My wife was approved for her 10 year green card this morning in New Orleans. Fast and extremely simple. The "interview" took 10 minutes, her passport stamped, and was told the actual GC would arrive in about 2 weeks. BTW, we filed AOS in April, 2005, from a K-3. The adjudicator was extremely nice and professional. Bring what they ask, be organized, and tell the truth and you shouldn't have any problems. BTW, the New Orleans USCIS office is much better than their office before Katrina. Easy in and out, and NEW! Good luck!!
