Hello, I just joined today although I've been lurking around the forums for a little while. My Fiancée (who lives in Florida) and I (in Ontario, Canada) are busy getting everything we need in order for her to file the I-129 form. As we are getting closer to that time, I'm feeling woefully unprepared for the process. I'm trying to read and learn as much as I can and have found the resources available here very helpful so far. Hello and thank-you to everyone for sharing such great information.

You may also want to take a look at this chart to decide if you want to go the fiancé or married route, if you are still undecided. There are advantages to both: http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

The K-1 (fiancés) can't work right away after moving down and because they are not legally allowed to work you cannot collect EI for that time period either.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the links everyone!

I've been reading as much as I can and I'm finding all the information here extremely helpful.

I found some great posts about taking my own U.S. passport style photograph. With that knowledge, I took my photograph yesterday and used the tool on the travel.state.gov site to size and crop it so it meets their requirements.

A few minutes using photoshop to get it 6-up and off I went to walmart to get one 4x6 print made. A little time and thirty cents later, I have 6 photos that would've cost me over $30.00 if I'd had them done professionally.

I know I have a long road ahead and it's nice to have a place to come that offers such practical and helpful advice.
