Hi all, I know this has been asked before, but I have not been able to find any definite answers on it.

DS-156, question 22: "When Do You Intend To Arrive In The U.S. (Provide specific date if known)". I filled out the form and left the answer blank, because I do not know the specific date yet. I thought that was alright, because of their little note in exclamation marks. However, I have now read that you are not supposed to leave anything blank, and that this would lead to them generating a wrong barcode. Is that true? I have not found a way to edit my information online - could I just add a tentative date by hand into the form? Or would I be allowed to fill out a completely new form online?

Maybe you can e-mail your embassy about that? They will ask about it on interview I think, but I would say that doesnt cause any serious problems for you. Since we are humans, we do some typos too... So they may give you some RFE and some time to fix it.

I just personally made mistake too, when I filled and sent out my DS-230. They asked about residence and I accidentally put a wrong year, 2011 instead of 2010. The month is right, but Im freaking out about it. Im thinking to e-mail my embassy and ask instructions about it...

Good luck with your journey!

Kiitos! :) Still wondering, I haven't sent it off yet, maybe I could just fill out a new form online and send that one instead...? Does anyone have any experience with it? Either way, I will let the consulate know about it.

yes.gif that's alright. You can leave it blank, just like it shows on the example forms http://www.visajourney.com/examples/Form-DS-156.pdf or you can put a tentative date.

We put a tentative date too, but if you don't know when you're going, then what else can you do but leave it blank. I don't think it'll matter.

-you can put any date in there that's in the future. Personally, I'd just put it 2-3 weeks from the time of interview. You're not required to leave that specific day.

You can fill a new one out. The barcode/your form is not registred until it's used at the embassy.

Np. I know it feels good to get the info from the embassy - I did the same thing with factors that were country specific. Good luck on your journey and hope you'll post your feedback in this topic if you decide to email the embassy; for future German K1 applicants.

I SO know how you feel!!! Im so glad when this is over. Im stressing out of medical now, scared they will find out something which will deny my visa or so... And then I did that little mistake in my DS-230 form, and I was so so mad for myself! Like Im already stressing out and then I need to have more things to stress out! Im gonna fill my DS-156 today too. Hopefully then I dont make any stupid mistakes.

So im thinkin to fly out somewhere early November, I dont wanna book my tickets before interview etc so I can just put a day somewhere over there on November?

Nah, don't worry about the medical - it'll be fine! I am having my medical next week, and for some reason, I am still quite relaxed about it. I know it is easier said than done, but try not to stress out about the whole process, it's simply no good. It'll just make the process even harder than it already is. Just try to be looking forward to the time when you and your fiancé are together again!

As for the date, just put in some tentative date for November. That is what I did.

Thanks for your support! Im trying not to freak out but Im close! :) Medical in two days, results in on a week... After that I will feel more relaxed! Im not too worried about interview -yet. But I will LOL I have had interview before with my J1-visa, but that was kinda different case; now its gonna be pretty much end of my world if my visa would get denied. :P

I put tentative date in November as well. And I said I will pay my trip myself, Im not sure yet how we gonna do it. I may pay it or then my fionce. Depends which one of us has more money then ;)
