Hi, I was wondering if I could get your help please? My fiance is worried that we haven't known each other long enough to get approved for a K1 Visa. We met online in March of this year and have spoken to each other everday via Skype & Yahoo Messenger for hours a day. I am fortunate enough to work from home, so it is very convenient for us to talk for so long. We chat through Skype for a few hours before she goes to bed and then later that evening we chat for a few hours before I go to bed. I went to the Philippines at the end of June of this year and stayed at her families house for a week. We had a great time, her family welcomed me as part of the family right away - I saw her family on Skype almost as much as I saw my fiance before visiting. Our estimated time of approval, NOA2 is Jan 28, 2013 - Feb 2, 2013. When we finally have our interview it will be close to a year of having a relationship with each other. Can you please post some comments to let her know that the length of our relationship more than qualifies us, and if anyone has had a shorter visit with their fiance (a week or less) please leave a comment as well. She is also worried that if I can't make it to the interview that she will get denied. I tried to explain to her that most often the fiance is unable to make it to the interview.

Thank you, she is really stressing and only seems to focus on the posts on VJ that were denied for various reasons. We have plenty of documentation to support and prove a bona fide relationship, pictures, passport stamps, boarding passes, hotel receipt for overnight manila, letters, emails, chat logs.

Thank you very much VJ Nation

I know my fiancee for about 5 months when I submitted my K-1 application. And I was approved. During the a little over months of waiting we continued to develop our relationship. So keep evidence after you applied because you will need that once you get your NOA2. Wish you the best.

When she got her visa we knew each other for 11 months.

For the Philippines and based on my readings on this forum you should have no problem at all. And you really don't need to go for the interview.

Some of the things that are of note is to make sure that you're both free to marry on the date that you submit the I-129F.

U should be fine. Especially since your at VSC you will probably know each other for at least a year before your have you interview bc VSC is so slow. Just gather all the evidence you can. I was nervous since my fiance and I have been together for almost 2 years and thought that wouldn't be enough and spoke to USCIS they specifically told me they cannot tell us how long a relationship has to be before a marriage that is our personal choice. Just make sure you have a lot of evidence don't want them to think your relationship is just for visa purposes. Good luck! :)

I think your fine, tell her to stop stressing unless you guys have anothee choice. I dont know if its regional but I thought fiancees were not allowed in the interview anyway?

It depend on the country. Some allow ur fiancé to come to the interview and they also ask ur fiancé some questions while others te fiancé cannot go to the interview. In Chile I can go to the interview they sit down with my fiancé ask him a few simple questions with the officer u hand ur paperwork too. But during the actual interview we get called up together.

Some of the things that are of note is to make sure that you're both free to marry on the date that you submit the I-129F.

I have always been confident in our application and our proof, but she will be nervous until we get the approval. We are both free to marry, I was separated for more than two years and finally got my Divorce final just before I submitted our I-129F. I will be there for the interview, which I hope will help. Thanks for your help.

You could alway visit her again while waiting on the petition approval. That may ease her worries, and it would also add to your proof of ongoing relationship.

I plan on being there for the interview, so I hope this will help us.

When i filed my K1 visa,my fiancee and i just met only once time and he spent only 8 days with me.He event did not meet my family because i stay far away from my family but i got my noa2 already last week.I think you will be fine....good luck :)

Thank you, I hope that your information will help my fiance feel more at ease.

You should be fine. Everyone's relationship varies. As you mentioned, you are going back to visit, and this is a very wise choice to better your chances. Stay strong, know each other well, love each other, and the rest will follow. If your case is straight forward without criminal convictions and/or pending divorces/annulment, I wouldn't stress anymore than one does waiting for this dinosaur of a bureaucracy to get the ball rolling.

Congrats Kennard! I missed that somehow. Glad your interview went smoothly!

This is very true. Some do allow the sponsor to attend, and some do not. The Philippines is one consulate that does allow the sponsor to attend.
