My name is Adam, I apologize to people who have already answered this type of question but I cannot find the answer. Our NOA2 notice date was May 31, 2012, and it is only valid until 9/30/2012. My fiancee has received her packet from the US embassy in Tokyo already, but we have not started the K-1 Visa yet because we have been waiting for me to find a better job that can proves that I can support us both during her transition to come over here and marry me. How do we (if we can) file for an extension? What do we need to do to extend this process?

Since the embassy has your approved petition, consider contacting the interviewing embassy/consulate.

Good luck .

good.gif The Embassy is the only one that can grant an extension. Get a hold of them (by email if possible, to get a written confirmation)

Wrong information. The deadline on the NOA2 is meaningless. As long as the Embassy has the case, they can keep it open as long as they choose. You have nothing to do but prepare for the interview (and have the medical done).

Here is the information from the DoS Nonimmigrant Visa FAQs:

"My Petition Expired – Can It Be Extended?

The I-129F petition is valid for four months from the date of approval by USCIS. A Consular Officer can extend the validity of the petition if it expires before visa processing is completed."
