I am Canadian and currently living in Germany where my job will be over in April and at that time I would like to permanently move to the U.S. where my wife is now. I had thought a K3 would be a good path for me and then apply for an adjustment once I am in the U.S., but not so sure about it after reading posts on here about it being either a bad idea or not available anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The K-3 Non-Immigrant Visa is still available. I am the US Citizen and I applied for the K-3 Visa after I had filed the I-130 in April 2012 for my wife to bring her faster into the US and then apply for Adjustment of Status while waiting for the I-130 process.

Well by the time our K-3 Application had been approved in August 2012 and sent to the NVC, our I-130 Petition was also approved and sent to the NVC as well. This action made our K-3 Visa Petition (Non-Immigrant Visa) useless and now we have been changed to the CR-1 Spousal Visa (Immigrant Visa).

So what I am trying to say is that if you file the I-130 Petition then filing for the K-3 is a waste of time and paperwork. After we experienced this process I would say you are better off filing for the I-130.

But it is up to you. Good luck
