I tried to find a job online but no sucess, I'm ready to start at the bottom, I have no job experience, I got a master degree in education, I was an elementary teacher at home, I tried in teaching job but nothing :(

Do you have your greencard or EAD? Your timeline doesn't indicate.

Why doesn't your husband like you to drive? Did you get your US drivers license?

Even if it is you are not that good of a driver, then he should spend the time to help you get better. Tons of back roads outside of Baton Rouge to train on.

Since he doesn't like you to drive and you don't have a car, even if you got a job, you can't get there.wacko.gif

Unfortunately, the economy is tough all over. In order to get a job, you have to get out there and put in applications. Yes, some are online, but when trying to find work, the best thing to do is go in person and just walk in to as many places as you can and inquire about job opportunities.

I have found over the years that even if a person doesn't have a job opening, they may have an idea or know someone that does. Especially if they see you are sincere and truly motivated. This will never happen online.

But to be able to do that, you and your husband are going to have to work the car issue out. Was he just planning on you continuing to stay home???

Good luck, I know you must be crazy at home all the time...

Please update your timeline.good.gif

Can you get your driver's license in Louisiana with your EAD? He should help you look into getting your driver's license. Especially if he is going to start talking about helping with the "bills".

I am sorry, that just annoys me. Did he think you were going to come over and just be a person that "helps" with the bills?

This is why I point out to people how serious a marriage is... especially the financial part.

#1- If your husband wants you to start helping financially by getting a job, then your husband needs to "MAN" up (yes I said it) and assist you with getting the things necessary in order for you to help. Such as a driver's license.

#2-You guys need to find out from the department of motor vehicles what is required for you to obtain your drivers license. Some states accept EAD and a copy of the I-797c showing you have a pending AOS. Some states only accept green card.

#3-If he doesn't help you with that, then he needs to work out a mode of transportation for you to go and put in some applications around town. If you do get a job, then he needs to ensure that you have a way to work.

I am sure that you want to help out.

Good Luck

ask your husband to drop you off at the state building in the morning, on his drive into work.

then go inside, and apply for a state job.

Then on Wednesday, have him drop you off at the University.

Go Inside, apply for a uni job - doesn't have to be in teaching.

Good Luck !

(go on Tuesday)

Have you tried to evaluate your degree? You most likely have to get a state certification to work as a teacher in a public education system.

Have you considered daycare positions, babysitting?

You can also check out this website: http://www.laworks.net/

And, as everyone here mentioned, you should get your DL ASAP - I lived in Baton Rouge area for 6 months and can't imagine how can one get around w/o a car.

The job market is not the best there but I wish you luck!
