Hello everyone,

My wives parents are from the Philippines and they are very poor. We would like to try to get them travel visas to visit us here in the US. I am curious whether anyone has successfully received a tourist visa from the Philippines to visit their family in the US. If so, what advice would give us? thank you!!!

This can be very difficult. They must PROVE beyond a doubt that they will return by understanding the strongest ties rule. They must try to overcome the long history of visa fraud that has taken place.

It is important that they must show strong ties to their home country. If it doesnt look like this, then her mother can try to apply and her father doesnt. In this case, her mother would show strong ties as her husband is still in Phil, and this can be considered as strong tie for her only.

Hope it helps.

At best....it is very difficult to get a tourist visa to the US from the Philippines.

Even those with strong ties,(work, school, money, kids, property,) routinely get denied tourist visas from Phil.

I am not saying don't try....I wish you the best of luck for nanay at tatay.

just wait for your wife to become US citizen and then she could apply for I-130

I think they were inquiring about non-immigrant tourist visas.

I didn't see anything in the post that asked about immigrant visas

You are correct. Even though they are fairly poor, they still have to go back to the Philippines. They want to be with their entire family. Maybe in the future they would like to come here on a more permanent basis, but they are not ready now (believe it or not)

My mother and father in law are also very poor, but they have no interest in EVER immigrating to the US.

Their chances of being prosperous and self supporting here in America are very slim.

additionally, my wife and I would have to support their every need for the rest of their lives if they were to immigrate, plus any and all medical attention that they require.

The medical attention alone would cost a fortune. They know if they stay in the Philippines, we will send them money forever and they could live quite well with their entire family.

We have the same intention too. Ours is more like a 30 year plan. Go and retire near the beach! B-)
