tourist visa while waiting the green card

Hi, im married to a US citizen and we already filed a petition and we r still waiting; my question is that i already have a 5 year visa for tourism to the USA. Is it true that as i already applied for for a green card visa, my tourism visa will be void automatically and i can no longer use it to visit him? Can i still use it to visit? Any similar experiences? Thanks is advance

You can still use your tourist visa, but it may be a little more difficult to be let in. Bring your CR-1 visa paperwork to show you want to do things the legal way and ties to your home country (evidence of a job or university enrollment, lease agreement to your home etc).

A residency petition does not void the tourist visa. My sister had a pending residency petition (which by now it probably expired because she does not want to move to the US) and she used her tourist visa several times. She even renew it without a problem. But, even though she does not have family ties in her country, she is very solvent.

Nope, application for a GC does not void a tourist visa.

Your tourist visa is not voided until CR1 visa is issued to you and you can use your existing visa if you wish to.
