My fiance is from South Korea, and has been reading various blogs of other Koreans who married Americans and posted their immigration steps online. She came across one blog where a Korean girl got her Visa, but was required to have another medical exam when she entered the US. The Korean wife had to strip completely for the examination in front of a male doctor, and this is what is scaring my fiance a lot. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? I've looked through this site and also the USCIS site and haven't came across anything like this. Both the guy and girl have tattoos which are in areas of the body that can only be seen when their clothes are off. Also, the guy is not in the military. My fiance thinks because the guy isn't in the military that they have to do an extra medical exam, but I don't think that is the case. That's all the details she told me about this couple-I need to ask her again if she can find anything else on the couple's blog about this.

Has anyone had to or heard of someone having to have a second medical exam in the US? I've always believed that if you get your Visa and are let in to the US, then everything is fine.

Your fiance should stop reading silly blogs... really.

She won't need another medical in the US. Even if she did, she could get a female doctor. If she is arriving on a fiance visa, she may need some additional shots.

I'd like to add, that even if a patient is required to be nude for medical treatment, As standard practice they are given a blanket/gown to cover up the parts not being checked. A medical full strip and stand naked is just fear-mongering. It doesn't happen like that.

AOS for my husband

You've posted in the spouse visa section. There is a huuuuge difference between the different processes relating to visas. She might've read about the K1 visa who may be required to have a 2nd medical in the US ONLY to get the last vaccinations if they are missing but a new exam is NOT required. If the medical is more than a year old at the time of submitting AOS, you are required to have a new medical.

Standing naked in front of a civil surgeon is not requred either. I'd walk out in protest and not pay a dime. ABout the only time I've read about the medical exam being neccessary in the US before it expires is when you discover TB after visa issuance or after US entry.

Spouses of US citizens(cr-1/ir-1) undergo a medical exam in home country and receive greencard shortly after arriving. No need for medical relating to the immigration process.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

Any issues on your medical will necessitate a CS visit in the USA, shots, old blood test, TB test, find a reliable one near your home if you need to.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.
