This might be a stupid question but does an I-94 expire on or before the date printed on the form? Like if the date on the form is August 28th could you book a flight out of America that leaves on the 28th or would you have to make certain that you're out of America before the 28th? I've actually heard different answers for this question so if anyone could provide an official source it'd be a huge help.

- Thanks a lot

timeline in layman's terms:

Submitted I-130 (in person) - September 16th, 2014

I-130 Approved - November 12th, 2014

Received an e-mail prompting me and my wife to complete form DS-260 and submit some documents to a bank (NOA2?) - November 28th, 2014

Submitted documents to bank - December 4th, 2014

Received an e-mail instructing me and my wife to schedule an interview appointment - December 18th, 2014

as long as you have a flight booked out that day your good

Ya, that's what I thought but my girlfriend keeps telling me that her friends are saying the opposite. I've searched all over the internet and I can't find an official answer anywhere. What you say seems like the obvious answer but are you 100% positive you're correct? I don't want to get into major trouble because of an assumption.

She must leave up to and including the date on the I-94. If she is not comfortable with that option, have her book a fligh a few days earlier.

Upto and the date printed on I-94 is good.

As posted earlier lot of ppl don’t feel comfortable to be right on the cut-off date, coz things like flight cancellation due to mechanical problems or for any other reason can happen and being right on the cut of date with no margin can make some ppl nervous about it.

Generally it is advisable to have couple days of wiggle room.

I'm going to agree here and say as long as she is out of the US at the time on her I94 then she's fine

But it's not a good idea. When the volcano blew its top in Iceland, lots of flights were delayed, visas and VWP were overstayed and lots of posts of "What do I do now, it wasn't my fault". The point was that it doesn't matter, an overstay is an overstay. I'd play it safe

PS - why do you keep calling her your girlfriend? She is your wife right?

Good luck

the i-94 controls the date for a tourist visa <EOM>

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
