My employer's HR office is located in another state as me and It's taking some time for me to get a employment verification letter from my employer. I was wondering if this is really needed? I don't really understand why I would have to have this if I have my tax returns and most recent pay stubs.

You are correct.....employment letter is not needed, especially if you have recent pay stubs. Employment letter is optional.

this is very difficult for most people to get because of some crazy liability for companies to verify employment and income and standing. I eventually got a manager to sign one for me. But I felt that our petition and paper work was solid with many visits and I was there for interview. I had 3 years tax returns and a years worth of paystubs. Consular only asked for tax returns and never the letter.

Thanks. What about the I-134? Did you get that notarized?

Nope. There's no need to. In fact, there's no room for it on the current I-134.

We did not get it from the HR because it would have taken weeks if not month.

Instead my fiancee asked her boss to write one for her on an official company paper. Seems to work as well.

We did not have this, and it wasn't asked for. Only pay stubs and tax return. This can be forged easily and they aren't going to contact the employer, so I don't see why this is recommended. It was not on the checklist they embassy gave me, so I don't think it would be something the embassy would even look at because as i said it can be easily forged.

Processes and requirements vary from one consulate to the next. What is asked for at one might not be asked for at another. The employment letter, pay stubs and tax returns are all listed as documents you can use at Juarez to prove financials.

It is recommended if the consulate you are going through tends to want to see a letter from employer. If you are able to get one, then you probably should. The more evidence you have to prove you can support the beneficiary, the better. Some consulates are more strict about the affidavit of support than others. I suggest people just research what is commonly asked for at the consulate they will interview at and be completely prepared.
