I got an RFE stating we both have to submit a "letter of intent", an original statement (signed & dated) indicating that we plan to marry within 90 days of my fiance's entry to the US. The thing is that initially I type-wrote two letters of intent, one from me and the other for him, and I signed mine as he did his. I'm not sure if USCIS wants the letters to not be worded the same?? Cause they were each definitely signed by me & him. Any suggestions?? Also, can he hand-write them or does it have to be by computer only?? Thanks...

for some reasons i'm seeing you're filing for F-1 Visa on your profile. Anyway we got RFE for that too. When we first filed, both wrote pretty much a five paragraphs letter of how we're in a relationship and would like to get married as soon as our visa's approved blah blah blah.. But never stated the specific date of getting married w/in 90 days. When we replied the RFEs we both used the sample letter from VJ fiace(e) letter of intent. http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples Hope that helps. Good luck.

P.S Type and of course original signatures.

Type written should be okay. Did you use the names in the content of the letter? Such as I -------- plan to marry -------- within 90 days of arrival.

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times

It's you, it's you, You make me sing.

You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

YEAH I USED THE SAME EXACT ONE!! THAT'S WHAT KINDA CONFUSED ME STILL!! I'M NOT SURE WHY THEY'RE ASKING FOR THIS AGAIN :/

I sure did make sure to use the example you stated! So that's what prompted me to think that maybe it should have been hand-written instead?? Oyy!

It seems confusing  we sent EXACTLY the same sample letter from VJ, type-written only with our names and signatures different...so I'm pretty sure that typing the letter is not the issue

Is it exactly like this? We both did this but just switch our names and use our address on top and each of us signed our letter and they were okay? But they have problem w/ your letters? OMB! I don't really know what to tell you. Maybe some other people might have other ideas? sorry :(

Exactly the same, except that we had

United States Department of Homeland Security

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

P.O. Box 660151

Dallas, TX 75266

not California Service Center...don't know whether it's that big a deal! Oh oh!!! Ours was also "Dear Madam or Sir", but yours is "Dear Sir or Madam" enough joking....I really don't know what is their problem with your letter, it is exactly identical to ours!

P.S: you might wanna correct your Word file...it's not a wise idea just to highlight the names with black! It can be un-highlighted easily !

Were they both with the original signatures? No scans or copies?

Just redo them. Using the examples here on VJ and just switching up the names works for most people. Perhaps they got lost from your file or overlooked. Sign in blue ink and/or place the paper on top of magazines when signing so the indent in the paper shows, making it clear they are original signatures.

Also, you should change your profile to show you are petitioning for a K-1, not F-1, and list the correct service center your case is being processed at, California or Vermont.

@Christine84--Don't think the wording matters, nevertheless wrote our letters of intent each worded in our own style of writing. More importantly, we did as others have described in this thread especially Jay-Kay's recommendation: we signed in blue ink and made sure an indentation in paper occurred. Furthermore, we printed and signed (in blue ink) additional copies to keep for ourselves so we, too, would have originals in our records. Best wishes and continuing luck to you on your visa journey! --RK and Inday
