Past Processing time, No NOA2

We sent our application in January, we got the NOA1 on February 10, and yet still no NOA2. It looks like California has processed most of February and half of March, and yet we have nothing, no requests for more info, no status, nothing. There are a few other people from February still waiting (or at least they haven't updated their timelines), but most do seem processed. What can/should we do? He has to go through the notoriously slow Montreal embassy so a delay in California is extra painful.

I appreciate any advice. I am starting a new job so I have to get a new apartment, move, get a new car, everything without my other half. We were living in England doing our degrees together for several years, so this is the longest we'll have to be apart.

You should give them a call and check on the progress of your petition, here is the USCIS time frame link. Though, due to the recent glacial pace of approvals this summer at the service centers, they may just tell you to call back in 30 days.

Good luck on your visa journey.

I called last week and now I've gotten a response via e-mail that my case is being adjudicated and I should have a response in 45 days. Does it really take another 45 days? Most of February was processed at the end of June and its now August.

It may be prudent, for the sake of sanity, to refrain from comparing when other petitions were adjudicated. The petition that counts is yours, not theirs. The time frames are estimates, set in quicksand.

In our own case, our petition was adjudicated in 157 days. Sure, there were others that had quicker processing times. Best wishes for them! What we concerned ourselves about was the receipt of the Form I-797 (NOA2) and not a RFE.

YMMV

Good luck on your visa journey.

You can put in a service request when having waited 5 months + an additional 30 days. After that, you can also involve your congressman. However, if the service center is backlogged, they can't really do much. It's still worth a try if you feel stuck without being able to do anything about it. You do have to give the congressman permission to look into your case on your behalf.

Have you set up an account on USCIS's webpage and added your case?

Congrats on starting new job, getting new apartment. I know it'd probably have felt better starting out that way both of you. On the bright side, most of this won't be a hassle when you finally reunite. It gives you a moment or two to save up and prepare things. I know if I had been in home country for a month or two more(the pay is much better in Denmark), I would've been able to buy a car right after POE. Or submit AOS faster.

EDIT: Igor's list is great most of the times but not when you discover it too early after receiving NOA1. I'm fairly sure it's got to be the most visited site on VJ. Besides, some are delayed because of background checks taking longer, other times it's a matter of the person sitting with your case.

Here's to hoping you'll see NOA2 soon.

Hi ! I see that these posts are from 2012 - and its now 2014 and a lot changes, but Im searching High and Low for

information about what to do if its past the 5 month waiting period and you havent heard anything yet - but most

people who were filing in the same month as you have already gotten notice.

I got my NOA1 Feb 6th and its now July 6th -- Ive read that you can call, or get a congressman involved

but is it possible that this indicates my case was lost or that there is some issue?

Any shared experience or advice would me much appreciated.

Look in the feb 2014 tsc thread...no one is approved. They are currently working on December & January & insanely back logged & sitting on their bums doing nothing & telling people who call in to wait 2 months. (I've been checking them in the hopes that tsc suddenly starts moving again & I get processed by 5 months without having to harrass them daily) there's plenty of info in that thread or January's as well

I am the petitioner.
