Why not allow people who want to immigrate that love their animals ? I mean there's people out there who have intimate relations with sheep, dogs, etc... so why not allow the two of them to immigrate as a couple?

 Or how about the man who married a pillow? Or the woman who married the Eiffel Tower?

Because some of us didn't fall of yesterday's box car meaning we don't buy into the spiel about two people of the same sex playing pseudo man and wife roles means anything close to normal relationship.

Now you may think it's normal but a lot of us don't, in fact a lot of us find it sickening, revolting, and anything but normal.

Yes, and the identifying term for people who think like you is 'bigot.' every argument made against same sex marriage was used by those who felt bi-racial couples were sickening, revolting, and anything but normal. Many still feel that way. Too bad, suck it up, love your significant other, and get on with your own life.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

 It's cute that you talk as if this is how the majority thinks. Wake up. It's 2012. Your ignorance is in the minority now.

Sickening when people compare animals or inanimate objects to other human beings.

One day I hope you wake up and realize how ridiculous you sound.

On a very positive note and fortunately for you, none of these couples are interested in anyone's approval or opinion. So far what is being brought to court and will most likely end up at the SCOTUS is whether their marriage should be recognized in all States and the Federal Government pursuant the X Amendment of the US Constitution. If you read the motions which were filed you will find out there is no mention whatsoever in regards to making it into law that others should approve of it or not.

In terms of normalcy and other subjective matters, you and I are allowed to form our own opinions and objections to their marriage as they are allowed to form opinions and make objections to yours and mine. That will not change, luckily, for both of us.

I was in a Adult Singles Sunday School class one day and the teacher said Homosexuality was a threat to marriage in this country. I asked all divorced people in the room to stand up.(90%). Then I asked all people that had a homosexual break up their marriage to remain standing. All sat down. The highest divorce rates in the country are among people who identify themselves as Christians. Logic would dictate that Christianity is more of a threat to marriage than homosexuality.

I think that because the room was full of older single people skewed that percentage considerably....all the married couples were elsewhere and the young singles were in the "Young Adult" class. The studies I've seen show that people that claim to be Christian but do not attend church regularly, have a divorce rate of around 70%. The studies go on to show that the more a couple participates together in church, prayer, devotions, etc, the lower and lower the divorce rate goes. Focus On The Family did a survey of their listeners, and found that their audiences divorce rate was only 10%.

My biggest issue with gay marriage, is that I don't want my children taught in school that they can marry a man or a woman, whichever they want, or being taught that if they think they are the wrong gender, they can just get fixed. It encourages choosing, which supposedly it not what homosexuality is about. Everything we do in life is a choice. It's bad enough that there are teachers out there explaining how to give blow jobs in the name of "sex education".

But if children do grow up with these feelings (wanting to marry someone of their same gender or feeling they're the wrong gender, etc) shouldn't they be aware of the fact that people feel the way they do and go on to live completely happy, healthy lives? I think children deserve to have an education of all lifestyles, whether we agree with them or not. They need to learn that everyone's different and that's okay.

The last thing I would want is my child to have feelings that make them feel isolated and afraid to talk to anyone about because they didn't get enough education or knowledge about it from either school or from me.

More education and awareness = more tolerance and less hate.

When it comes to sex education, I see nothing wrong with children being taught that some men marry men, some women marry women, and some men and women get married to each other. It's just a fact of life.

I have never chosen my sexual orientation, so for me it was never a choice. I could have gone the other way for experimentstion purposes but i never even questioned that.bvHave you chosen yours and if so could you easily change or choose something else?

I want my kids to be taught they live in a country where they can marry whoever makes them happy and where they enjoy his rights as citizens. Have you not married the person with whom you fell in love? Why should they not be given the same opportunity?

As parents one always wants to steer one's kids in the best possible direction but in the end they will end up doing what is best for them. Haven't we done just that?

When it comes to sex education, I see nothing wrong with children being taught that some very few men marry or have sexual relations with other men, some very few women marry or have sexual relations with other women, and some the overwhelming majority of men and women have sexual relations with one another and/ or get married to each other. It's just a fact of life.

Most estimates put the total percentage of homosexuals at 5% or lower of the overall population here. So I would take issue with saying some men, some women and it would be more accurate to say that overall a very small fraction of our population does this. Not that it's any of our business who does what, with who, but I don't want to mislead and say that it's a fact of life when it's more or less; the exception, not the rule.

As of April 2011, approximately 3.5% of American adults identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_demographics_of_the_United_States

2005

The American Community Survey from the U.S. Census estimated 776,943 same-sex couples in the country as a whole, representing about 0.5% of the population.

And your point is what, exactly? I don't care how many homosexual people there are. I don't care if they're the "exception and not the rule" ... that has nothing to do with what I said. The fact that they exist IS a fact of life and I think kids should learn to be tolerant of things that are "different" .. adults make a far bigger deal about it than children do. The numbers mean absolutely nothing to me.

Considering the upheaval it has caused, you can safely say it is way too much ado about nothing. I can't see how such a small percentage would pose a threat to the overwhelming majority. Apparently we have learned nothing from Loving vs. Virginia.

The only thing the numbers show is that it seems everyone has their panties in a bunch because a few same-sex couples. Again, proof that ignorance is the mother of all prejudices.
