The IV bill currently shows paid, but I won't be able to get it in the mail for another week. Thus, I probably won't know the interview date for another 3 weeks or so. Does anyone know if I can do the medical now? I'm going on vacation with my wife in 3 weeks, and don't plan on being back in town until the actual interview.

In Canada you could only book the medical once you had the interview letter from NVC, I hope someone from Norway will explain how it works there

Good luck

In Finland, they don't require you to have an interview date set, due to the fact that there are only 3 doctors who perform the medical and therefore you might end up waiting for the medical for longer than the actual interview. The medical results are valid for 6 months I belive, so if Norway's panel physicians allow it, I don't see a problem with it. I suggest contacting the doctors directly and/or the embassy to find out how long it would take to get an appointment in the first place. This may be very Norway-specific stuff, as canadian_wife pointed out, but good luck either way. :)

Edit: Just now realized you're getting interviewed in Sweden, but still the above applies. Hope some Swedes drop by to chime in!

In Denmark, it doesn't required anything to schedule a medical exam. They kinda assume you already got the instruction package from the embassy.

You just need to bring the questionnaire that you get from Stockholm Embassy ( I just printed out from the internet instead) and other things like passport photo, vaccine records etc.

The doctor asked me if I have an interview date yet, I told him no. He said that's fine, it was more like if I already had an interview date, he could have made sure they try to send the results to the embassy as quickly as possible.

Thanks. So I'm guessing it's not like the Stockholm embassy will throw your medical away if it arrives before you get the instructions package lol. Did the doctor in CPH mention when he'd send the results to the embassy?

Thanks. Is this because the doctor won't do it, or because the embassy won't accept it?

O..M..G.............. I'm gonna shoot myself.... The only recognized panel physician in Norway is "closed for the summer" until August 6th...... :ranting:

The doctor's office won't accept the appointment without the letter.

Canada has 3 doctors (but for the 2nd largest country in the world that isn't enough) and 2 of ours are closed for the summer too

Sorry, good luck

I have a two day window in August where I might be able to do it. Do you know if the chest x-ray/lab tests and doctor's appointment can be done on the same day?

You really want to ask this in the regional forum as it seems to be country specific. In Canada, you book the apt, show your interview letter and its like a little assembly line of chest x-rays, physical exam, consult with the doctor, blood tests, payment, out the door.

Not sure how it works elsewhere though

@ Canadian_wife - I just received my NOA2 last week and am wanting to book a medical. I was reading here that I can't book a medical until I have a confirmed interview date? Also, you mentioned that 2 of the 3 medical centres are closed for the summer. Which 2 are closed and where did you find out that information? Thanks for your help! :)

I was able to schedule, and get my medical exam in Canada prior to obtaining my interview date.

I've read that the medical exam has an expiry of either 6months or 1year AT THE BORDER for when you enter. BUT, what is the expiry of the medical exam in terms of the interview? Is there a requirement for a maximum amount of days the medical exam must be performed prior to the interview??

Please help... Now I'm stressed!
