Moving from K1 Process & Procedures to China regional forum; topic is country specific.

In order for your fiancee to obtain a Chinese passport, she will need her household registration documentation. China does not issue birth certificates in the sense that you or I would be familiar with.

Hi Ryan,

Great to hear from you once again.

I appreciate all your help very much.

So does that mean my fiancee will submit her household registration documentation instead of a copy of her birth certificate when she is asked to submit a birth certificate? :help:

to get a birth certificate, she must show hukuo book.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

To obtain her K-1 visa she will need a notarized/translated copy of her birth certificate and her PRC passport.

She will need to take her household registration document to the gong zheng chu and they should be able to provide her with a notarized/translated copy of her birth certificate which she will submit to GUZ IV.

Thanks for the reply and info Darnell,

I always appreciate your help.

Thanks Operator,

This forum is a lifesaver, I wouldn't have a chance of being with my fiancee without it, if I had only to rely on my attorney (who takes 2 to 4 days to respond then gives me vague, general, non-specific responses to my questions that tell me nothing to help me move forward - and she gets paid for that)

P.S. I don't like to b*tch so much but hey, if I won't be taxed for it, why the hell not? Especially if I already paid for the previlege.

It's helpful if your fiancee knows people with passports that she could just ask. It's a lot easier for a Chinese person to explain to another Chinese person how to navigate their system.

If you haven't gotten police, marriage, birth certificates prepare to freak out. You can really be of no help, she has to do it.

Hi Larry_and_Xinji,

Good idea, I'll ask her to socialize where the people with passports hang out. Shouldn't be too hard to find these people.

As far as all the other stuff she needs to gather, I freak out every day after breakfast, so not to worry, nothing new for me.

I'd like to suggest something different.

To get a passport, she needs to show her china ID card and her hukuo book.

To get a birth certificate, she needs to show her hukuo book.

Is no concept of 'one before the other', both can run in parallel.

Hi Darnell,

Great to know that. Important info.

I gave her the link to the Public Notary Service site in Beijing so she is reading up on it (maybe right now as we speak).

Thanks for your help,

P.S. I'm in a good mood now but I don't expect to be in a good mood next week, the week after that, or the week after that. So cherish my joy while it exists before it turns into an endless desire to b*tch

Thanks Darnell,

I'll put it on my calendar to b*tch, gripe, moan and complain in one week from today then every Tuesday afternoon at 2:00pm after that.

Productive, constructive, efficient, effective schedule, don't you think?

Either way you look at it, it beats being lost in a mountain in Tibet during a rainstorm. Or maybe not. They both have their positives.

Take care,
