I found out two days ago that our petition was approved June 21. No NOA2 email yet. About when should I expect to receive a case number with NVC? I see some people recommending calling about a week later, every day, until a number is assigned. Is this effective, and if so, start calling a week after what--date of approval or date of NOA2 receipt?

I'm also wondering what the fastest way is of sending in the DS-3032, email or regular mail. I live in Sweden, it takes about a week for regular mail. I did see the template here for emailing the form, but is there a chance of them loosing it? Is regular mail more reliable?

Thanks!

Before I answer your questions, keep in mind, getting an email from USCIS isn't 100% guaranteed. At this point, just keep an eye on your mail for the physical NOA2 notice.

Currently, it's taking around a month from NOA2 date for NVC to assign a case number. I'm getting this estimate from the NVC spreadsheet I've had going for awhile now. It's linked in my signature if you want to look at it.

I used to recommend waiting a week from NOA2 date before calling, but now that's taking a month, I'd say 2 weeks from NOA2 date is good. It's just a good idea to stay on top of things so you can be the most up to date as possible on your case. Not all cases are taking one month to get a case number, some are taking less, thus why I suggest calling often.

The fastest (and cheapest) way of sending the DS-3032 is by email. Follow the template wiki here on VJ; it's accepted 100% of the time.

Thank you for answering my questions. Yes, it does seem it's taking a month at the moment. I'm hoping for faster:).

When you say NOA2 date, is that the same as approval date?

When I send the form by email, it doesn't need a physical signature, right?

What do I say when calling NVC?

Thanks!

Yes, NOA2 date = I-130 approval date.

And no, when sending by email, there is no printing, no signing, no scanning, no attaching, nothing. Just an email.

When you first call up NVC to see if a case number has been assigned, the operator will ask for either a USCIS receipt number or NVC case number. Since you don't have your case number yet, you're going to give your USCIS receipt number. Once you give it to them and they input it, they'll ask why you're calling. Just tell them you'd like to know if a case number has been assigned to your case. Simple as that :)

thanks, just what i needed:). i was looking at the spreadsheet a couple of weeks ago and from what i remember, it doesn't usually take very long between transfer and assigning of case number. i'll just sit back and wait patiently.

Now is changing, they take a month to assign case number.

I think you can do other things such as understanding of filling application forms or getting police check.

When you receive your case number.

You won't need to spend too much time to figure out how to fill application forms
