Hello All,

It is so good to find a site with people who can relate and sure my frustrations and eventually happiness (hopefully). We have been in an " Administrative Process" for almost 4 months, it is driving us crazy. My fience' is Eritrean who had to travel to Kenya for the K-1 visa (Embassy in Eritrea doesn't do it there). I have been trying to find a timeline of how long it might have taking others in the same situation. I am still new to the site, if it's already here, I would appreciate direction to where it could be found.

Unfortunately there are no time limits to the amount of time AP may last. It can last anywhere from a few weeks to a year or more. I am sure if you do an advanced search on this site you can find others in a similar circumstance. Sorry about your waiting and good luck!!!

Each case is different.

We have been in AP for 15 months!!!

You can call DOS every 2 weeks to check on your status. # 202-663-1225 Have his name, case number and DOB ready.

OMG..sorry to hear that. I have been emailing every 8-10 days to check on status. I want to have documentation to all communications. I hope we hear soon

Sorry to hear about your AP. Have you called USCIS and requested a service request? And have you also involved your congressperson, state rep or senator? How long has your AP been by chance. I know they usually give people the standard it could be 180 days before you hear anything but was wondering. Also where do they say your case is at? Embassy, USCIS?

Her case is at the Nairobi Embassy.

I have contacted a senator and the Nairobi consulate replied back to him in the same manner they do me," case is in AP and all cases are different..blah blah bla ..."but added that they were unable to provide more information in regards to my Fiancé because he is not one of his constituent".

As far as I have been informed, I can only contact the Nairobi consulate for status at this stage, the USCIS has nothing to do with it. the waiting is driving me CRAZY !!!!

That is correct, USCIS is not involved at this point.

Senatorial inquiries are a long shot and it is the CO that has the last word. The general VJ advice to contact your senator during AP is truly overused because they can not stop AP. There is nothing else to do but let it run it's course.

Some senators will be able to shed a little more light on it than yours has but the consulate prefers the process to be

non transparent and shrouded in mystery with no end in sight. Supposedly for national security and to keep people from trying to "fix" anything that is being investigated mid stream and also to protect the privacy of the beneficiary.

On top of that involving a senator after only a short time of AP increases the work load for the CO's by having to pull

your file and answering the senator within a certain time. Sometimes your case file loses it's place and ends up underneath

the "stack" by being pulled. It has been observed that some get approval within days of a senatorial inquiry and some get denied. Coincident ? Who knows. Don't rock the boat unnecessarily but instead try to understand what the reason for AP may be, a clue being something the CO may have pointed to in the interview. For example if they ask for a list of friends etc. they may want to conduct a home investigation. If the questions center on a specific date/event on a from they may want to verify it or the document.

Then there are the name check hits etc.

After 15 months in AP I just go on about living my life, what else can I do ! I exercise, talk with my friends, do what I do ....I refuse to live like a stressed out zombie for any process in this journey.

I have written my senator about drafting a law for more transparent AP process with a time limit recently but have not heard back yet.

Sounds good and I have actually started to exercise, now if I can only find a way to give my mind a break from thinking about it 24/7.
