Hi all,

I downloaded and filled out the paperwork to sponsor my spouse .It seeems pretty straight forward but now he wants to get a Lawyer has anyone here did the paperwork themselves and was successful at it .ALso what is the salary required by the petitioner to sponsor a Spouse email me Thanks All

Most of this website has done it by themselves. There is an entire step by step guide section set up for the process. Have a look at it. It is really very essential to the process and making sure you have everything correctly collected and done. You need a lot more than just forms.

The sponsor or affidavit of support papers are not needed until later on in the process when you are at the NVC stage. Thats a 5-6 month wait period.

Is your spouse in the US currently? That will make a difference on what forms you file...

There is no reason to hire a lawyer unless one of you has something like a criminal record or previous overstay that could complicate your case.
