Hey there. me and my girlfriend are aiming for marriage in about 2 -3 years time. and we know that the k-1 visa is the one well need.

but my question isnt what i need to do, but more how much it'll cost.

so far ive got

she files the I-129F - thats $340

then when thats approved, i apply for k-1

application for k-1 - $240

DS-156 - cant see anything as far as this costs

Medical - im not sure as i live in UK and we have NHS

Extras - how much do i set aside for all this? the police records, and other literature?

then the I-485 - $985 + $85 Biometrics

can someone hopefully give me a better idea as im going to need this on top of my travel money to get over there

Hi Pilot

Me and my fiancé are in a similar position although its looking like 18 months until our wedding. 2-3 Years is quite some time but everyone is different. Remember you won't need to file for at least 16months given your time till marriage so prices may change by then

With regards to your question, the medical is around 100 GBP i think so roughly 150 USD.

So that equates to

K1 Petition - 340 USD

K1 Application - 240 USD

D-156 - Included in cost of K1 Application

Medical - 150 USD

Total K1 - 730 USD Approx

AOS

I-485 - 985 USD

Biometrics - 85 USD

EAD and AP - Free when filed with AOS

Total AOS Cost Estimates - 1070 USD

Total Costs to Green Card - 1800 USD Approx

Hope this Helps

And Welcome to Visa Journey

Yes - this is all without any lawyers fees.

Don't forget to factor in travel to and from London twice - once for the medical and once for the interview. Depends on where you live but can be expensive, particularly if you get a very early interview time and need to stay overnight in London.

To be fair i wouldn't personally bother with lawyers.

The process is really straight forward if you follow the guide on Visa Journey.

Lawyers will add 2-3k onto the cost so not really worth it.

1800 USD is 1200 GBP

The medical exam for the K-1 is done at Knightsbridge only for UK beneficiaries. The current cost is £227.

However, as someone else mentioned, the costs could change at any time, so be sure to read through the various documentation on the embassy and USCIS sites when you decide to file.

No, it's not covered by NHS. You have to go to the center contracted by the US Embassy and to date, it's just Knightsbridge in London. Be sure to read the embassy info page: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=United%20Kingdom&cty=London

Hello,

Sorry to add to the confusion... looking through all the helpful guides here have really helped out. However, I'm confused. It's the K1 Application that confuses me. Is that what my UK fiance needs to do? Where do I send the fees for that?

Thank you for your help :)

Erinn
