Hello Dear VJers,

My fiance just had her interview today (6/15/2012) at the Mumbai Consulate and was approved! I have posted a short embassy review for Mumbai for the actual questions my fiance was asked. The review was short because the interview itself was very short and quick. We had been very much concerned due to potential red flags in our case but in the end there was no difficulties whatsoever. I guess the reason for that is our meticulous documentation, preparation and anticipation of what may or may not cause a problem.

Both myself and my fiance are previously married. I had previously filed IR1 spouse visa for my ex-wife in 2006. I got legally divorce in May 2011. I met my fiance while I was separated from my ex-wife. We got engaged in July 2011 and I filed for her K-1 petition in Nov 2011. My fiance is also previously married and had obtained her legal divorce in 2009. She had never been to US before. We thought that since I had sponsored for my ex-wife before and just few months after getting divorce I got engaged that it would be big red flag in our case. And we were very much prepared for our case to be either denied or being in long Administrative Processing.

In the I-129F petition I clearly stated I had filed for my ex-wife and also provided the final divorce decree. Made sure all the other requirements for I-129F were satisfied like picutres, emails , letter of intent etc etc..

The I-129F was approved very quickly within 3 months. Followed all the Packet 3 and Packet 4 instructions minutely. Started to prepare for interview with all the possible questions they could ask about my previous relationship and filing for ex-wife. We made a list of almost 70-80 questions and I grilled my fiance in the mock interview pretending to be the Consulate Officer. Prepared her to give answers just to the point, with full confidence and with complete honesty. We went through this exercise everyday for about two weeks before the interview. And to our surprise, the officer didnt grill her at all, asked just 3 basic questions and granted the visa. I guess we were extremely over-prepared but we think every couple should anticipate what kind of questions they may ask. In our case maybe we jsut got lucky that officer was a nice lady and didnt dig for too much information. Thanks to all those who posted their experiences and good luck to all who are yet to be interviewed.
