Ok, one bank down. What other countries imposed sanctions on Syria? Serious sanctions, not silly travel restrictions on a dozen individuals.

For someone as interested in Syria as you seem to be, you certainly don't keep up with news about it.

Israel could have handled this diplomatically by simply apologizing for the murders of unarmed civilians, and by offering just compensation to the families of the victims and the survivors. Turkey has been very patient, waiting 2 years for various international processes to run their course. In all that time, it seems the only plan Israel came up with was to surreptitiously funnel money through a Jewish front organization in Turkey to try to bribe the families directly and sidestep negotiations with the Turkish government. I guess it didn't work.

Anyway, it's not just the incident with Turkey and the Mavi Marmara that IDF officials have to worry about...

I for one am glad that the UK removed the power of granting arrest warrants from local magistrates.

Allowing ordinary citizens to obtain arrest warrants for people they don't like is plain crazy.

It's not universal jurisdiction - it's universal tyranny.

Maybe Israel can spend countless millions on influencing and diverting the Turkish political system for its own benefit, just like it does in the U.S., and then it won't have to worry about silly things like "legal charges."

And it seems that despite the changes in the British law, it was still not enough to guarantee Almog of immunity from the war crimes charges. After bravely ordering thousands of civilians in Gaza to be slaughtered, it seems he's afraid of going to prison.

if ordering military action that resulted in civilian casualties was the standard to which

they were held.

The U.N. report already found that Israel committed war crimes through willful killing, unnecessary brutality and torture in its "clearly unlawful" assault on the Mavi Marmara. However, due to the automatic U.S. Security Council veto of just about any measure punishing Israel for its illegal behavior, Turkey is proceeding with the cases in Turkish courts.

Any member country is free to bring cases to the International Criminal Court. Turkey has already asked the ICC to criminally prosecute the Israelis involved in the attack on the flotilla, and is preparing that case as well.

The egg in one basket thing isn't really working so well, after all.

It does not guarantee Obama that he would not be charged with war crimes.

Indeed, Obama alone has ordered more civilians killed than any IDF commander in recent history.

Drone attacks in Pakistan

The Bureau of Investigative Journalism found that [since May 2010] between 391 - 780 civilians were killed out of a total of between 1,658 and 2,597 and that 160 children are reported among the deaths. The Bureau also revealed that since President Obama took office at least 50 civilians were killed in follow-up strikes when they had gone to help victims. More than 20 civilians have also been attacked in deliberate strikes on funerals and mourners.

Maybe some "pro-Pakistani activists" can get the Director of Public Prosecutions to issue an arrest warrant for Obama?

Of course not - there's a double standard when it comes to Israel.

They know what would happen if they tried to mess with US military commanders. Israelis, on the other hand, are an easy target.
