Are money remittances a good idea to take to the interview? I send her a certain amount every month for cell phone bill, etc.. or would it raise a red flag?

Thanks.

I believe this is Embassy specific. In some countries this is a red flag, but it's not an issue in others.

For example: In Argentina, is a good thing (according to what the Embassy says on packet 3)

You might ask this in the PI regional forum. I would bet that the members there know the specifics for the Embassy.

j. EVIDENCE OF A GENUINE ENGAGEMENT. You must be prepared to prove to the consular officer

that you have a genuine relationship with your petitioner and a clear intention to marry within 90 days of

admission into the U.S. In the past, successful applicants have submitted photographs, letters, e-mails,

phone records, bank records, and remittance records as evidence supporting their relationships and intent to

marry.

If you haven't already, now is a good time to look at the packet instructions that US Embassy Manila provides for K-1 applicants on its website. It is good to bring to an interview in Manila. Whether or not they ask for it, that is up to the CO. It won't cause any red flags to have it on hand.

It is a good idea to bring it with you. It really depends on the CO interviewing you. In our case, when we were interviewed last August 2011, the CO actually asked for copies of money remittances. So, the rule of thumb is be prepared for anything and everything. It is better to have it available when the CO asks for it than not having it. Good luck!
