Good afternoon Folks,

My mom got approved for B1/B2 in Kyiv today - yay!!! so excited :D

I started working on some cheat sheets for her travel as she does not speak a word of English and I really want to minimize the stress of the trip for her.

I dowloaded I-94 and put Russian translation on it, so she can learn what this form is and practice filling it out.

Thought some of you might find it useful for your family members travelling to the U.S.

Hope it helps!

P.S. Sorry if the translation is not 100% perfect - I did my best

Whatever flight she is taking from UA, the flight attendents or her fellow travellers will be able to help. She is not in a vacuum and is not the first to undertake this travel.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

my mother n law just made the flight here and same does not speak English. i tried to have somebody to help her in pairs and in Atlanta but air France did not offer that. but delta had interpenetrates on telephone and she made it to Charleston SC quite fine! no problems at all! so have faith in her and on flight out of Ukraine have her ask the Russian speaking person to show her where to go in airport for change or to get her help there.

My parents are coming here on June, 25th, so I'm pretty excited too. I'm worried a little bit, although they have been here before, but last time I was flying with them, so I was actually working on the cheat sheets for them too :)

Tell us more about the translation by phone. Did MIL call some one, or was there some one available in Atlanta? Not sure I understood all of the post above.

Well nobody ever met her from Delta or Air France, but in Atlanta guy at the desk have read that she's ukrainian and ask her "russian yes?" she said yes and they called up russian speaking person. But everything else she figured on her on. Knowing words like restroom, smoking etc really helped. She couldn't understand what exactly people saying but was obviously which way they pointing...:thumbs: She had some good laughs
