Look for Ultimate Staffing or Roth Staffing.... I am in the Boston are but I know they have offices all over...

I worked for them from Sept to Dec last year and got offered a perm post from one of my temp placements, I got exelent service and good support.... and they offer medical insurance too...

yes they get you to take a test.... for office work you have to show that you can use MS Office, Excel and Outlook.. also a typing speed test... I also had a interview...

they pay is not great but it gets you a reference in the US for your resume... I was lucky and was offered a post after working for a company for just 2 weeks....

Timeline

Spherion is also another agency. I too live in the Chicago area and I temp for 8 yrs until I graduated from college. I tried the perm thing but in my exp I recv'd better wages temping but of course no benefits. The trick is work for several agencies so when an assignment is not avail thru one you have the other. I was able to maintain daily expenses (car, rent, etc..) while I was temping so I never had any complaints.
