Hello there!

I am a US Citizen, applying for F2A my spouse who is right now in the Philippines.

I applied for him last May 25,2011. On Dec of 2011 I received a notice that my petition

is approved. And that it will be forwarded to NVC. After that,I have not received anything

from NVC. But my husband, did receive a mail from NVC that due to limitation of numerical

number he might have to wait.

I dont understand why my petition takes too long. I have a friend that he petition his

wife last August 2011 and how his wife has been approved and will be coming to US in July.

And for me, I petition my husband before him and still my papers is not moving anywhere.

Please help me, how I can process this fast coz it's almost a year now.

Thank you so much!

F2A is for spouses of LPR (green card holders) and yes, in those cases, there is 2-2.5 yrs wait time for immigrant visa number to become available.

If you recently naturalized, you're supposed to contact NVC to upgrade your petition and get it re-classed as CR1/IR1. You have to send them a copy of your naturalization certificate.

So, which one is it?

I-130 filed by USC will take less than a year until visa in hand in most cases.

I-130 filed by LPR will take 2-3 years until visa in hand.

WHich one are you?

Then I recommend you update your profile to show CR1/IR1 visa and not F2A.

Yes, but it is not clear whether the petitioner was a US Citizen on the date the petition was filed. If not, notify USCIS if the petition hasn't been approved, and NVC if it has. Include a copy of the Naturalization Certificate.

I am a US Citizen at the time I applied for my spouse. On the certificate I received my case is for I-130.

But there was, a mail that my husband received from NVC that the preference category is F2A. So, now I am

Contact NVC and make sure they haven't miss-categorised your petition.
