California Service Center -vs-Vermont

I can't speak for California but it took Vermont a little less than 4 months after NOA1 (Notice of Action) to approve my petition. I know people who have had to wait longer and people whose petition was approved much faster. I am sure everywhere is pretty much the same as far as the fact that every case is different and some take longer than others to review especially if you get any RFE (s). In my biased opinion I would go with Vermont.

Ok thanks.. I am wondering what exactly determines which Service Center your petition is sent to? Does it have to do as to where you actually live? I ask because my I-129F which was denied for initial evidence went to the Vermont Service Center!!

From what I've seen, CSC takes much longer to approve petitions. I've seen cases take from 5 to 8 months in getting an approval. As in VSC, most do get their approvals on time (5 months), and like Mr.Miami, I received my NOA2 4 months after I received my NOA1. This is not always the case, but it looks like VSC are faster with any petitions. I think that once the petitions arrived at the Lockbox, they decide where they go bases on how many cases are being processed at each service center, I think they try to even them out but VSC is always head. If there was a way for you to choose, I will say choose VSC.

Not sure you have any choice from my reading. In fact one statement I read said that sending to the wrong lockbox could end up delaying the process...

Yup, you don't have a choice. You need to send it to the Lockbox and they determine where they want it to go. Your fate is in their hands once you send off the petition.

other comments: 2.6 months for a i129f in 2007, wow! and just five years the waiting time has tripled!
