WhenI you go for medical, do they check your police clearance certificate. I need two i from U.K and other from India. I have applied for both. Will get from acro next week but Indian will take about 6 weeks. was wondering if in medical will they ask for both. Got NOA2 on 8th. I am panicking.

Correct me if im wrong, but i was pretty sure you have to show you the police certificates at the medical when its done in London http://london.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas/medical-examination.html

It only mentions the UK one there so it could just be that one you need for the medical. But it might help to ask what they require you to bring when you call to schedule the medical.

You DO NEED your ACPO issued Police certificate for your medical in London. I quote from the US London Embassy website:

Forms and documents that must be presented to the examining physician on the day of the appointment:

 A photograph for each person attending the medical, including babies. The specifications of the photograph are the same as those obtained for the visa;

 Vaccination records for each person attending the medical, including babies. Vaccination records are dependent on age. See chart on pages 7 & 8;

 Passport, driving license or photo license (applicants aged 15 and over only);

 Police certificate issued by ACPO – (applicants aged 16 and over only);

 Medical questionnaire which is printed on page 9 of this packet much be completed for each person attending a medical, including babies; and

 Applicants who have ever been treated for Tuberculosis (TB) are required to bring all medical and specialist reports relating to the diagnosis and treatment

I think they use it for additional ID as it has your photo on it which is why they only ask for the UK one. And I may have read somewhere that it's a way of double checking that you have it before you go to interview. Though I may be dreaming that bit.

I swear, some people give advice not knowing their #### from a hole in the ground. This is twice in 3 days when people from outside the UK portion have given just false info to important questions.

I hope that the person who asked the question actually comes back and reads the rest of the replies. Would hate for someone to ask a quick question, get a answer, and just believe it.

That was some early speculation when they suddenly started requiring it. But it seemed to come about when the new guidelines for mental health (including addictions, alcohol/drug abuse) went into effect. The panel physician instructions sorta puts the charge to the doctor to gather evidence to make a valid decision. A police certificate with charges of substance abuse, alcohol related brawls, driving under the influence would give the doctor a hint to ask more questions when evaluating the new mental health guidelines. (Not super new now, but newer than most of the other medical guidelines.)

If you're informing the OP, that's very thoughtful. I'm done helping that person and won't be answering anymore of uktousa's questions. He has been pointed to helpful information over and over and over, yet keeps asking without trying to help himself. At some point a person has got to read the instructions provided by the Embassy website, form instructions, and threads created to help K1s going through London with further tips and explantions. Somehow my evil twin inside is chuckling if he takes the first random reply from a Canadian about London specific procedures. We can only spoon feed a person for so long. There are lawyers who get paid for that purpose. ::gets off soapbox::

Very true, but to be fair, the Canadian response was due to the OP posting the question in another forum (IR-1/CR-1...which is strange since OP lists K-1), thus RyanH had to move it to the UK forum since it was embassy-specific. This is why it's so important that once one reaches the interview/medical stage to get well-acquainted with their country/region forum to get the relevant details.

But, as Nich-Nick said, they also have to want the help.
