Hi all,

Maybe some of you can shed some light on this or maybe share your own experiences...

How long does it usually take to receive the work permit after completing the Biometrics appointment? FYI...The I485 and I765 were submitted together. Also at what point in this process is a SS## assigned?

1) This is the K1 forum, not the AOS forum. :)

2) It depends on how busy the office is. I think I received my EAD/AP card in the mail about a month after my biometrics appointment.

3) A SS# is not assigned to you. You need to go apply for it. You should have done this shortly after arriving into the US. You should do this before your I-94 expires, if it hasn't already.

You can get your SSN two weeks after you arrive. Read this guide for more information: SSN Guide

You should receive your EAD about 3 months after your NOA1. Your timeline doesn't show your NOA1 date.

Since his I-94 is expired, he will have to wait until he has his EAD or green card to apply for his SSN.
