cnn.com and foxnews.com are still calling it a small plane.

MSNBC update:

An aircraft crashed into a high-rise apartment building on Manhattan's Upper East Side in New York City on Thursday, NBC News reported. There were conflicting reports about whether it was an airplane or a chopper.

Video from the scene showed at least three buildings in the high-rise engulfed in flames.

According to local affiliate WNBC, officials said the aircraft was a helicopter, not a plane. That had not been confirmed by any other sources.

Right next to my boss' apartment. She just ran out of the office....to go find her cats. I don't think they will allow her onto that block.

I'm watching this on CBS and so far, they're taking this as an accident, not an act of terrorism. But we shall see... My office is also rather close to 72nd and York and I went home early because I don't feel well, but I'm checking in with my co-workers to see what's going on.

It seems like it'd be so stressful there. Even if it's just an accident, to see a tall building on fire again and smoke filling the air I'm sure brings back many nightmares for those in the area.
