Time from NVC sending petition to consulate, to receiving packet?

Was hoping you guys could help me with this question. The flowchart for the K-1 visa lists the times for the NVC sending the petition to your local consulate as being about a week, and the consulate sending you the packet as about another week. My fiance received a notice that the NVC was sending the petition on March 26, and it was dated March 22nd. It's been about 3 weeks now since the March 22 date and I was just wondering how long it took you guys to get to the packet step? I realize that the week is probably an average but I was hoping it to be quick. I guess I shouldn't be expecting any speediness though.. the police check they said would take two weeks.. More like a month. :P

My experience was that once I received my NOA2 it was almost exactly 3 weeks until we received Packet 3.5. I did however call the NVC 1 week after NOA2. They told me if it had left to the Embassy and they also gave me my Case# which is what they will use to track it at the Embassy level.

I hope this helps! Like others have suggested, you should really give the NVC a call. They are super nice and helpful!

Good Luck!

Thanks for the responses. I emailed my consulate and they said that it had been mailed, and asked to confirm my mailing address.. They gave me a digital copy of the letter. Hopefully that means I'll receive the hard copy this week and that it didn't get lost in the mail, since the letter seems to have the correct address. :)

In the mean time you can start looking up to prepare your papers to complete packet 3. It helps to pass the time and it doesn't seem like your just there waiting. But it took about a week before the montreal consulate received my noa2 and then another 2 weeks before they sent me packet 3.

Im sure you'll get it soon.

Good luck

Hey guys I need your help, was told via NVC letter that my approved K1 petition was forwarded to US Embassy, Moscow on July 05, 2012 many of you are listing on their Time line the date the petition was received by the US Embassy, Moscow or in any other countries. How I could know the Embassy receiving date. I cannot search it via DHL, because I do not have airway bill tracking #. By the way my fiancée have not received any notification from the Embassy up to the present time. Any input and help will be appreciated. Thanks

There was a shipment from NVC to Moscow on July 6 (DHL waybill #9325817620) and July 9 (DHL waybill #9325818283). It's possible your case was in one of those.

the packet from the embassy is different in all countries, waiting time. some are faster than others. as for the NVC, its so random, there are people recently who got theirs sent within a week and others waiting a month? :bonk:
